Basic Purpose:
This Engineering Technologist for OEM and PIA customers assists in customer support and satisfaction. Supports SEWS Quality Assurance by performing material inspections to assure the precise quality and correctness of sorted/reworked/repaired products. These specific assignments are normally under the guidance of the SEWS PIA and Resident Engineers. Assists in the immediate containment action in the event of product and/or service concerns and provides his functional expertise necessary to support in identifying root causes.  He/She may direct and coordinate the activities of the 3rd party company in the event of a sort and supports in their training and certification of parts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Promote and assure the standards issues by SEWS and SEWS Quality Assurance in alignment with SEWS' values, objectives and quality.
  2. Inspect and verify the precise quality of products reworked/repaired in the ECSC/ICSC warehouse to support zero flow out of defective products.
  3. Perform 1st piece verification of rework/repair accuracy and correctness.
  4. Assure that finished products adhere to inspection standards. Assess and provide feedback to improve the accuracy and clarity of documented standards-including in- process change points-and supports the training of labor force to all standards and changes.
  5. Contribute to, or prepare reports and documents that inform the manufacturing plants and management the results of sorting activity.
  6. Assess and verify the correctness and effeteness of sorting methods/procedures and verify compliance to written standards.
  7. Assist SEWS customer relations to assure continuous supply of certified product and no interruption to shipping schedules.
  8. Assure proper disposition of any non-conforming product found/created. Maintain record of disposition.
  9. May perform material sorts at customer locations as deemed necessary.
  10. Perform Reactive and Proactive Process Walks at customer’s location to identify areas/operations that are/may create damages to SEWS parts.
  11. Perform other tasks as assigned by Quality Assurance Management.
Qualifications:
  • This Engineering Technologist must be able to interpret Ford and SEWS wire harness engineering blue prints, discern details and specifies of each product under question, utilize basic specialized inspection and troubleshooting tools and gages (measuring tape/steel rule, caliper, magnifier, multimeter, wire harness pick up sets, etc.)
  • Standard Proficiency in Microsoft standard Office suit products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)   
  • He/she must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • 5-7 years progressive engineering experience.
  • HS/GED and Technical Certificate.
