Location: Kirkland, Seattle (Primary), San Diego, USA 

This position reports to: Sr. Manager, Global Cloud Services

What you get to do in this role:

ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, to join our rapidly growing team, building highly scalable cloud services. The team is looking for a passionate senior developer/technical leader, with a strong track record, who is in search of an exciting environment and innovative technology. In this role, you will be a key member of a strong team of engineers working on some of the company’s core applications.

You will focus on improving the performance, scalability and reliability of software and infrastructure that support thousands of ServiceNow customer instances across thousands of server farms globally distributed across the world. Working in an agile team, you will be responsible for identifying and solving issues and enhancements with the end goal of providing a better experience for our customers.

In order to be successful in this role, we need someone who has:

  1. Exposure to any distributed systems & large scale systems
  2. Strong in algorithms & data structures.
  3. Experience developing and operating enterprise scale, production, web application software and infrastructure
  4. Exceptional JavaScript and Java & containerization technologies
  5. Problem solving and disambiguation, debugging, and unit/performance testing
  6. Proficiency in web technologies like HTML, REST, AJAX, XML
  7. Solid understanding and experience with agile software development lifecycle
  8. Strong written and verbal communications skills
  9. Strong understanding of relational database principles – queries, security, data types
  10. Knowledge of cloud architectural components and distributed computing
  11. Should be a self-starter with an aptitude and hunger for learning new technologies
  12. 7 or more years of development experience w/ hands on coding and very good at system design
  13. Delivering high quality enterprise ready software within a global setup.
  14. Experience with Cloud Application Development Platforms will be a big plus.
  15. Bachelor’s degree in SW Engineering or equivalent.

The following, while not essential, are a plus:

  1. ELK stack expertise is a plus.
  2. Working knowledge of Linux
  3. Experience with open source technologies - Linux, MySQL, Apache/Tomcat, MariaDB
  4. Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, and Xymon
  5. ServiceNow Platform Experience
  6. Experience with AWS or Azure deployments and support
