Culture & Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Statement

Racism, inequality, and social injustice must end.

Our promise at Sequoia Living is to always be a safe place for people to be who they are.

Our organization has long lived the values of inclusion. We will continue to listen, learn, and work together to end the racism that has devastating effects on society as well as the people we see each day in our communities and service locations. Black Lives Matter—they are valued, they enrich us, they are family, they are friends, they are part of our communities, they make us better.

Sequoia Living’s mission is to advance healthy aging for people of all cultures, races, ethnicities, genders, abilities, faiths, identities, backgrounds, and walks of life. While we may be a small voice in a very big conversation, we will step up, show up, and speak up.

We denounce racism. To our coworkers, residents, customers, business partners, and communities of color—we see you, we hear you, and we stand with you.

Maintenance, Town Park Towers

Employed for: 14+ years

First, I love that we have flexibility when needed!!! Now I just want to say that there is always something to laugh about every single day with my colleagues. Laughing is good for my soul and my psychological wellbeing. On a day-to-day basis I feel a sense that I am working towards a grand achievable vision and I proudly see myself making strides towards it every day and making it a reality and enjoyable atmosphere for this great Organization!!!

Medical Administrative Specialist, Sequoias San Francisco (SSF)

Employed for: 32+ years

The pension plan! I have worked here for 32 + years and I will be retiring in the next few years. I am formerly a Maintenance crew member at SSF. I also like the people I work with and the variety of work I do. I also like that I move around a lot and am not tied to the desk. I have learned a lot in both positions and for the most part feel like I am appreciated. And mostly, I adore the residents

LVN, Sequoias San Francisco (SSF)

Employed for: 7 years

I started as a Certified Nurse Assistant then transitioned as an LVN in the next 2 years. I am a Registered Nurse from the Philippines. With the help of the Sequoias Scholarship Program, I was able to go back to school to comply to the California Board of Nursing requirements not worry about tuitions. Because of it I was able to take the NCLEX exam last year and passed it. Every day I am looking forward to go to work to serve our residents and work with my colleagues and other staffs. I just don’t like working at the Sequoias, I am grateful for the blessings and opportunities I have received through The Sequoias
