Role Overview
The Finance Analyst role is a pivotal new position created due to the Studio’s recent ongoing transformation of the finance function. You will be reporting to the Finance Manager, supporting the organisation’s financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions. This role will support the continued transformation of Finance within the Studio and our partners, including contribution in the development of a new ERP tool with opportunities to build new and improved reporting and analytics, Studio-wide.
As a member of a small Studio Finance team, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of responsibilities, with support from SEGA’s Group Finance and Business Planning teams. This position is ideal for candidates who demonstrate a strong track record in attention to detail, process management, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Financial Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of financial data, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement across multiple projects at different stages of development.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Preparation and monitoring of Studio budgets in addition to Project development costs & forecasts. Ensuring accuracy and alignment with organisational goals
- Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for various management levels, highlighting key findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Oversee and enhance reporting procedures across various Cost Centres and Projects, including Headcount analyses and foreign exchange rates for both UK and Bulgarian offices.
- Business Partnering: Collaborate and work closely with various departments from Corporate to Development teams to understand financial drivers and priorities. Be a trusted and credible business partner to make sound recommendations to support appropriate business initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function and our partnering teams.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant financial regulations, company policies, and accounting standards by overseeing all studio purchasing coding.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Undertake special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required by management.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Professional finance qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) preferred, but consideration will be given to candidates who are part-qualified with relevant work experience.
- Experience: Previous experience in a finance analyst or similar role, ideally within a corporate or commercial environment. Experience at Senior level would be beneficial, but consideration will be given to candidates with strong Analyst experience (or similar) looking for their next career step.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling. Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems is advantageous.
- Analytical Ability: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Organisation: Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and meet changing deadlines.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build relationships across the Studio & Publisher.
- Integrity: High standards of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
Desirable
- Experience in the Technology/Media sector or a similar industry.
- Knowledge of tools/systems (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Vena, Oracle, Concur).
- Experience with process automation and digital transformation initiatives.
