Overview: 
The Vice President of Technology is responsible for developing and leading a collaborative software development approach that prioritizes velocity, quality, and scalability. This role requires a strong customer service mindset, a visionary approach to architecture and quality assurance, and a deep understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies. The VP of Tech will foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and succession planning within the software development team.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Strategic Leadership: 
    • Develops and executes a technology strategy aligned with business goals, focusing on digital transformation.
    • Stays abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for competitive advantage.
    • Builds and mentors the software development team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Business Partnership: 
    • Engages with the business to identify new functionality, develop compelling business cases, and prioritize projects.
    • Assesses the impact of changes and develops plans to maximize ROI.
    • Partners with internal leaders to develop training and deployment plans.
  • Project Management: 
    • Effectively designs, initiates, plans, schedules, controls, and brings to closure multiple high-priority projects.
    • Researches, validates, and brings technology solutions to the organization through an evaluation of buy vs. build strategies.
  • Technology Development and Management: 
    • Oversees the strategy, architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of internal systems and applications.
    • Develops and implements software development policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance.
    • Manages vendor relationships and negotiates contracts for technology solutions.
    • Develops and manages the technology budget.
  • Team Leadership: 
    • Evaluates team member performance, provides feedback, and coaches the team to achieve departmental and company goals.
    • Fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and succession planning.
Job Requirements: 
  • 10+ years of experience managing teams and leading software development projects with aggressive schedules and large business impact.
  • 5+ years in a senior technology leadership role.
  • Proven leadership experience in planning, goal setting, process development, and budgeting within technology teams of 20 or more.
  • Experience leading technology for a multi-worksite organization.
  • Experience building a data warehouse.
  • Strong track record of developing and executing technology strategies that drive business growth and innovation.
  • Proven experience with application architecture, technical infrastructure, and system integration.
  • Experience in successful vendor negotiations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience supporting the deployment and implementation of outside system solutions.
  • Proven digital transformation experience.
  • Strong communicator in both verbal and written forms.
  • Strong experience with project delivery for large, mission-critical, cross-functional projects, including SalesForce Integration, enterprise databases, and data warehousing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
