Summary: 

With the evolution of Technology and the need to get ahead of new tech trends in support of business growth and evolution we seek an Executive Director Product Strategy and Solutions, reporting to the SVP/Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the transformation of technology across the enterprise. This role will require strategic thinking around key business needs, product lifecycle, issues both current and future, and deep engagement at all levels of the organization driving value for the whole of Seagen.  Aiding the CIO as part of her leadership team to further fulfill the division’s objectives as well as corporate objectives WW. This role will ensure business initiatives are prioritized and delivered appropriately in collaboration and conjunction with IT initiatives to ensure maximum value is delivered WW.

The role will report directly to the SVP Chief Information Officer and is a member of the IT Leadership Team. This position will partner with the CIO and IT Leadership to facilitate, define, and support technology vision and direction Globally. This is a critically important role, designing and enabling Seattle Genetics to achieve key objectives.  In this role, she/he will be responsible for the creation of multi-year plans that align with Seattle Genetics’ strategic goals, working together as part of the IT Leadership team to plan and direct the establishment of IT strategy across the IT Department.

This position sets the strategy and objectives for the Business Partner team in alignment with the long- and near-term Global IT Vision and objectives, Corporate goals and Business team goals across the enterprise and leads the functional build out of product management, and business portfolio management.  In addition will lead the system focused centers of excellence for ERP, collaboration tools and Knowledge/content management and building additional COE’s as needed.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordination, execution, and leadership. You will define business management processes, maintain relationships, and oversee planning and operations related to all aspects of IT services and financial management (operational and project). You will also analyze and report on key metrics, goals and objectives and ensure the organization meets related enterprise business targets and objectives WW.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Determine the optimal strategies to support WW growth and expansion efforts across the business driving innovation, setting standards, and executing delivery of high impact initiatives
  • Define and plan the implementation of new processes and technology and provide guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organization
  • Determine global strategy for People, process, product and technology and date in line with business and customer needs
  • Define and adjust IT standards and technologies to meet the current and future needs
  • Develop and deliver against product, system, collaboration and knowledge strategies for solutions that support the whole of Seagen
  • Make sound data driven decisions regarding the use of in-house technology and services optimizing total cost of ownership
  • Lead and manage the product lifecycle to drive innovation and adoption
  • Orchestrate identification, prioritization, and advancement of initiatives; monitor progress and communicate updates to internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Drive consistent and effective engagement and communications in alignment with organizational priorities both internally and externally at all levels of the organization
  • Advise, report on, and ensure execution of initiatives, priorities, and corporate and departmental goals to ensure alignment with desired outcomes
  • Partner with stakeholders to proactively identify needs and resolve potential challenges
  • Sponsor key steering and governance committees to ensure transparency, decision speed and removal of roadblocks to achieves results
  • Ensure IT is living organizational vision and goals in partnership with the ITLT
  • Partner with the CIO and the IT Leadership team to design and deliver IT operational excellence that meet and exceed Seattle Genetics expectation
  • Facilitate communications across IT groups, user, and other communities
  • Inspiring Service, Teamwork, and Accountability – Serving as a mentor for existing leaders as well as developing plans to cultivate future leaders. Providing guidance across IT
  • Developing a Culture of Continuous Improvement – Acting as an internal coach and consultant, identifying opportunities to remove process waste and scale automation
  • Ensure measurement and transparency of key metrics across IT through a balanced scorecard

Qualifications:

  • Strong initiative with the ability to manage initiatives across the enterprise of varying complexity and timelines simultaneously
  • Senior leader with solid interpersonal skills including the ability to build trust, influence, and relationships across a large and diverse group
  • Ability to consider a problem abstractly and develop an approach that meets strategic goals
  • Handle confidential information with discretion
  • Adept communication skills including ability to summarize complex issues concisely and listen effectively to concerns and problems
  • High standards of excellence and exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter who identifies and helps solve problems and can deal with ambiguity.  Ability to take independent action, working with a high-level problem or concept, developing the right next steps to propose resolution and ensuring successful outcome
  • Familiarity and understanding of scientific and clinical principles that guide our business
  • At least 15 years’ industry experience in a fast-paced environment (Technology/Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry preferred)
  • Information Technology acumen and proven leadership skills
  • Track record of successfully navigating within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to package and syndicate a message, garner support, drive and document vision / strategy, plan & organize, providing progress on multiple projects
  • Balance creativity and innovation against practical / cost effective approaches
  • The ability to capture the confidence of the organization in presenting new ideas or solutions through the ability to factually resolve conflicts and differences of opinion in a respectful yet assertive way
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (written/verbal), including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others, and articulate information in the appropriate media
  • Experience in the management of multi-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple projects or activities simultaneously
  • Ability to establish and manage multiple competing priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
  • Proficient in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data for organizations or programs of at least $150M
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in partnership with others in a collaborative or advisory role
  • Comfortable briefing executive level summaries and at the detailed operational level
  • Proven ability to work well with all levels of management and employees, as well as outside clients/ vendors
  • Market research experience a plus
  • Experience with 3rd party vendors, contracts, pricing a plus
  • Willingness to travel internationally (10%)

Education:

  • MBA or related Masters-level degree
