Senior Director Investor Relations

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, the Senior Director, Investor Relations will work closely with the CEO, CFO and other leadership to support and help execute Seagen’s investor relations strategy and plans directed at the investment community, including current and prospective shareholders and research analysts. This role will be key in managing external relationships and assuring strong and consistent communication with the investment community. The qualified candidate will be able to successfully interact at a senior level in the organization and possess strong executive presence and strategic understanding of the company and the biotechnology landscape. The position will collaborate across multiple functions including legal, finance, commercial, R&D, program management and corporate communications as well as with other members of the IR team in order to successfully deliver on a robust and proactive IR program to support a growing, global multi-product oncology company. 

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in developing communication materials (presentations, Q&A, scripts, key messages/talking points, etc.) in collaboration with other senior leadership in preparation for investor and analyst events, roadshows, conferences, one-on-one meetings, site visits and announcements 
  • Support the quarterly financial results process, including preparation of messaging, slides, press release, anticipated Q&A, regulatory filings and other related materials in conjunction with finance, legal, communications, senior leadership and other IR team members 
  • Design and implement a proactive investor segmentation strategy with a view to expanding and deepening Seagen’s long-term investor base, in close collaboration with other IR team members 
  • Create and manage a strong reputation by demonstrating consistent and clear communication between internal and external parties. Interact with the investment community on behalf of Seagen and be proficient at communicating the company vision and story. Develop and maintain investor and analyst relationships and handle day-to-day inquiries 
  • Manage Seagen’s investor event program, including annual planning, sellside and buyside contact liaison, consolidation of prep materials, executive leadership support and participation in events 
  • Support other IR initiatives, including special analyst and investor events (R&D days) 
  • Project manage a cross-functional workstream to distill, refine and report ESG-related information to our investor base and wider stakeholders, including delivery of Seagen’s first CSR report 
  • Build strong relationships across Seagen to develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the company’s products, strategy, operations and financial performance, in order to accurately represent these to the investment community and prepare other IR spokespeople 
  • Conduct ongoing benchmarking and analysis of peers and industry trends to inform best-in-class IR program as the company grows 
  • Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance on regulatory matters and ensure that information disseminated externally complies with applicable SEC rules and regulations 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 13 years of related experience serving in investor relations and/or Wall Street-related roles of increasing scope and seniority 
  • BA or BS required; advanced degree (MBA, CFA or relevant PhD or MD) a plus 
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with a focus in investor relations, with experience in equity research, corporate strategy, finance or corporate communications; knowledge of global commercial biopharma business is strongly preferred 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong executive presence and significant experience working with and influencing senior teams/executives 
  • A proactive, strategic approach to investor relations and communications 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills and proven ability to interact with external and internal stakeholders effectively and credibly 
  • Successful track record of interfacing with the investment community and established relationships with healthcare investors and analysts 
  • Intimately familiar with financial modeling techniques and valuation methods used by analysts and investors 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; enthusiastic, team player and self-starter; commitment to excellence and attention to detail; strong organizational skills 
  • Uncompromising ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment and the highest level of discretion; knowledge of SEC and disclosure requirements  
  • Ability to work across multiple functional areas; comfortable both as an individual contributor and team player 
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, variable and deadline-driven environment
