Summary: 

Our strategy requires a new approach which is to think and organize around human-centered data products to be delivered by well-orchestrated, transparent, and empowered scrum teams.  

The Associate Director (AD) of Data & AI Operations is a critical role reporting directly to the Executive Director of DSS&S that will work with DSS&S leadership and other Global IT leaders to lead the design, development, and delivery of an operating model that will deliver the maximum business value to Seagen employees, partners, and patients, while enabling global scale as the company doubles in size over the next 3-4 years. This role will help to instill a product and agile mindset within the DSS&S team and with our stakeholders, supporting a wide range of innovative, human-centered, and scalable data products, and lead the day-to-day rhythm of DSS&S’ business by establishing fit-for-purpose business processes and communications.  

Responsibilities:   

Operations Leadership: 

  • Lead the design and governance of budget and contract processes that the rest of DSS&S leadership will follow to help our leadership team steward and optimize our resources 
  • Lead the design and implementation of a right-sized measurement framework with key performance indicators that helps us on our path to becoming a performance-oriented team that is highly cooperative, curious, and shares risk 
  • Lead annual planning processes across our team and in partnership with Global IT’s Demand Management Office to ensure our annual plan is viable and feasible 

Agile Program Management: 

  • Lead the definition of DSS&S value streams 
  • Be a change agent through partnering with value stream leads to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize team performance using a metrics-based approach and help to ensure consistency with enterprise standards 
  • Develop and drive data-driven goals, track progress, and ensure prioritization and decision-making across the DSS&S team 

Product Management: 

  • Lead what it means to be a product-focused data team by helping to educate and instill a product-mindset across the DSS&S team 
  • In partnership with IT leadership, create the requisite product development and management business processes to be adopted by the DSS&S team and in partnership with internal stakeholders 
  • Consult with DSS&S team members on product strategy 
  • Oversee a team of Data Product Managers who oversee the full lifecycle of data products by working closely with Business Partners, Product Owners, Solution Architects, UX Designers and others throughout the product lifecycle 

Communications: 

  • Ensure that business stakeholders and sponsors receive timely and accurate information about the progress and health of DSS&S delivery; this includes communications within Global IT as well as with our cross-Seagen stakeholders 
  • Lead the brand management of the DSS&S team including a rebranding effort that clearly communicates to our stakeholders our vision, mission, and strategy  
  • Create and oversee our internal web presence to make it easy for our stakeholders to engage with our team and have visibility into who we are and what we do 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of successful program leadership 
  • Excellent project/process management skills in handling projects, priorities, and deliverables against deadlines 
  • Innovative; loves to challenge status quo and reinvent on behalf of our stakeholders and the team; Must be creative and have demonstrated ability to think beyond what is presently possible 
  • Demonstrated ability to think big and influence across all levels of an organization 
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills, and experience managing complex stakeholder relationships 
  • Establish track record of taking ownership and driving results 
  • Strong vendor management experience and proven ability to work with consulting partners to maximize quality and value while maintaining costs 
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including the ability to adjust workstyle and communication to match an audience, across leadership, non-technical teams, and our technical data team 
  • Ability to engage with and present ideas to senior and executive leadership 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on data and domain exploration 
  • Must enjoy and have demonstrated history for successful collaborations 
  • Experience turning complex and ambiguous problem statements into structured solutions while working in a highly cross-functional environment 
  • Experience operating independently and shift priorities quickly, while maintaining a high degree of organization and control 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, Data Science, or related quantitative field
