Summary: 

Seattle Genetics is seeking a Site Engineering Lead role for the multi-site Canyon Park campus.  This function will ensure technical and engineering support across the campus and will possess strong engineering capability, problem solving techniques, business acumen and broad focus within industry to drive decision making for business value add.  This role will require effective communication of the organization strategy to drive cross functional and departmental alignment.  This role will report the Sr. Director of Engineering, Center of Excellence.

 The expectation is this function will set a target for Best in Class results while focusing on site facility services.  This role will ensure the assets, standard work and non-routine activities are safe, maintained by competent trained technical staff and contractors who follow safe systems of work to allow the efficient production of high quality product.

 Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Technical Authority and resource for related Seattle Genetics Engineering Standards
  • Manager responsible for the development and coaching of site technicians
  • Lead responsible and accountable for supporting site capital plan, managing technical, maintenance, and automation teams while ensuring alignment with Corporate EHS, Quality and Compliance for site operations support
  • Manage and report site facility operation leading and lagging metrics/indicators to support site maintenance program – preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis and ensure close out of CAPAs and action items
  • Supports the REF Recapitalization and Facility Master Plan programs
  • Maintain all building equipment, facilities and utilities in an effective operational and compliant state
  • Ensure that installations and changes to equipment and systems are carried out, commissioned (validated and qualified if applicable), and documented according to approved protocols, change control procedures and in compliance with relevant cGMP and corporate requirements
  • Build a site Infrastructure Master Plan (5 years) that provides a roadmap for required facility upgrades and investments in order to ensure alignment with Quality & EHS requirements
  • Provide guidance to ensure compliance with all applicable external and internal regulations and requirements regarding Quality and EHS within the scope of Engineering
  • Drive Continuous Improvement to meet/exceed world-class engineering standards using Operational Excellence principles while continuously developing Engineering best practices
  • Lead efficient and effective Engineering activity through managing the Engineering site budget and resources
  • Become an influential functional expert within the site leadership team. Influence decision-making and take an active role in promoting cross-site initiatives, teamwork and collaboration across site’s functions
  • Implement global engineering best practices and actively share knowledge and lessons learned to contribute and support a highly professional level of engineering
  • Serve as the main Seagen representative in communication with suppliers, subcontractors and planning firms regarding the site’s assets, equipment, systems and maintenance services
  • Identify and support innovations by implementing new technologies which drive growth and process improvements using digital data and analytics (DD&A) such as Power BI
  • Establish and manage risk management and escalation process to ensure proactive measures are taken to reduce impact or risk to Seattle Genetics - EHS, Quality, Compliance, Security, Operations, Facilities, or REF
  • Use Quality Management Systems, QMS, to manage department Change Control, Deviation, and CAPA records
  • Ensures adherence to Seattle Genetics Data Integrity principles
  • Ensures compliance against local, state, federal, country and industry requirements
  • Ensures accountability for site Safety Culture
  • Site Engineering Lead and point of contact for planning, technical design, construction, commissioning and validation support for site related projects and shutdown activities
  • Contribute to the REF Engineering Talent pipeline by driving organization development of site engineer’s technical capability and competency with intent to build an overall succession plan

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional Licensed/Registered Mechanical, Chemical Engineer or Electrical Engineer, PE
  • 10+ years’ experience and progressive experience with 7+ in management of technical staff within GxP environment – pharmaceutical, biotechnology or biologic industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Engineering / Technology related from an accredited university
  • 5+ years’ experience in management/supervision within a Plant Facility Maintenance or Operations function

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems, CMMS
  • Understanding of aspects for Commissioning and Qualification activities
  • Ability to influence and persuade cross functional groups
  • Transformational Leadership skill sets
  • In depth knowledge of FDA, EMA, GxP and ICH regulatory requirements
  • Broad communication skills and demonstrated experience in financial management and understanding of business value drivers are required
  • Proficient use in MS Office as well as discipline-specific and project management software applications
  • Familiarity and ability to work with instrumentation/calibration specialists in support of automation systems.
  • Ability to build effective cross functional / department teams and drive decision making
  • Ability to work on-call rotation for the Canyon Park manufacturing site
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, or related field
