Research Associate III/Senior Research Associate

The Research Associate III/Senior RA will be responsible for designing and executing studies to develop and manufacture stable formulations for biologic products, including antibodies and antibody-drug candidates (ADCs), in early and/or late-stage clinical programs. The successful candidate will work closely with various functional areas within Process Sciences, Manufacturing and Quality Control. 

Principal Responsibilities: 

Research Associate III: 

  • Design and execute experiments to support formulation and process development of biologic products including antibody and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) with minimal guidance 
  • Independently analyze data, present work at department and project team meetings, and author technical reports 
  • Contribute to or lead technical development initiatives. Present within department and cross-functional teams. May give presentations or present posters externally at conferences 
  • Contributes to lab management and equipment maintenance; may be a subject matter expert for specific equipment, technology, or process 

Senior Research Associate: 

  • In addition to responsibilities listed above, the Senior Research Associate will have the following responsibilities: 
  • May contribute to regulatory submissions, patents and publications 
  • May independently lead functional area teams and department initiatives 
  • Takes responsibility for long-term projects within FDPS 

Required Qualifications:   

  • BS or MS in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, biological sciences or a related discipline 
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills 
  • Independently design and execute experiments and interpret results 
  • Critical thinker with problem solving experience 
  • Hands-on experience with chromatographic (e.g., SEC, RP, CEX, HIC) and electrophoretic (e.g., CE-SDS, iCIEF) techniques 
  • Strong knowledge of protein chemistry, formulation of biologics, degradation and/or stabilization mechanisms 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Research Associate III: 

  • BS and 5+ years or MS and 2+ years of experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry 
  • Prior experience with Empower 

Senior Research Associate: 

  • BS and 8+ years or MS and 5+ years of experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry 
  • Prior experience with Empower 
  • Experience with Statistical Software, such as JMP 
  • Experience with lyophilization development 
  • Experience and/or understanding of GMP manufacturing
