Summary: 

This position will focus on performing studies and reporting results to support formulation development of Seagen antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The successful candidate will work closely with various functional areas within Process Sciences, Manufacturing and Quality Control.  

Principal Responsibilities: 

Research Associate II 

  • Conduct experiments and analyze results leading to the development of robust formulations for antibody and antibody drug conjugate (ADC) drug substances and drug products. 
  • Execute studies including pre-formulation characterization, liquid and lyophilized formulation development, stability studies, shipping and handling studies, evaluation of material for use in toxicology and clinical settings. 
  • Process data and present findings to supervisor and FDPS team. 
  • Contribute to technical reports and prepare selected technical reports. 
  • Assume responsibility for lab equipment as SME

Research Associate III 

In addition to responsibilities listed above, the Research Associate III will have the following additions: 

  • Execute all categories of formulation development studies and design selected studies. Assume responsibility for more sophisticated lab equipment as subject matter expert (SME) 
  • Take lead on selected projects and department initiatives in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in organization 

Required Qualifications:  

  • BS or MS in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, biological sciences or a related discipline 
  • Good problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent analytical mindset  
  • Ability to function as a team player 
  • hands-on experience with chromatographic (e.g., SEC, RP, CEX, HIC) and electrophoretic (e.g., CE-SDS, iCIEF) techniques  

Preferred Qualifications: 

Research Associate II 

  • 0-2 years (MS) or 2+ years (BS) of protein formulation or analytical experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills   
  • Strong data and time management skills with attention to details 
  • Strong desire to achieve team and individual goals 
  • Some practical experience with aseptic processing and techniques 
  • Some practical experience with protein chemistry, degradation and stabilization mechanisms  
  • Preferred skills include some experience with analytical methods and techniques (e.g., DSC, HPLC-CAD, high throughput systems, subvisible particles analysis and other protein characterization assays) 

Research Associate III 

  • 3+ years (MS) or 5+ years (BS) of protein formulation or analytical experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills   
  • Strong data and time management skills with attention to details 
  • Strong desire to achieve team and individual goals 
  • Experience with aseptic processing and techniques 
  • Experience with lyophilization development  
  • Ability to work independently in experimental design, implementation and results interpretation 
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of protein chemistry, degradation and stabilization mechanisms 
  • Preferred skills include experience with analytical methods and techniques (e.g., DSC, HPLC-CAD, high throughput systems, subvisible particles analysis and other protein characterization assays)
