Summary: 

The IT Business Partner (ITBP) is a strategic IT partner for legal, Portfolio Management, Business Development and Corporate Communications, global teams in SG&A at Seattle Genetics (SGEN).  They will serve as a strategic relationship partner helping to understand what technologies will most effectively advance their business objectives innovating with the business to drive accelerated technology enablement.  The ITBP will work with the business teams to determine the right priorities, document requirements, develop/discover solutions, timing, and capacity working across the IT teams in collaboration to achieve business objectives through the effective use of technology. The ITBP proactively serves as a trusted advisor to provide thought leadership through the discovery, planning and deployment of technology solutions to support SGEN’s fast moving initiatives.  As an IT leader, you will bring function specific expertise as well as overall leadership skills to drive digital transformation in alignment with Seattle Genetics’ mission to bring new therapies to patients in need.  This role will strive to understand the competitive landscape and market challenges while being proactive and anticipatory in supporting the product strategy.  As a member of the Business Strategy team you will work across the Business Strategy community to look for synergies, determine best practices and support the advancement of the BP role at Seagen through standards, frameworks and scalable solutions.

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Determine the optimal strategies to support WW growth and expansion efforts across the business driving innovation, setting standards, and executing delivery of high impact initiatives
  • Develops and maintains relationships with business teams, with a focus on business outcomes enabled by technology.  Act as an advisor and leader to identify and build business processes / solutions that add business value
  • Collaborate with a global team to establish strong relationships and build trust-based partnerships across the organization
  • Collaborate closely with all of IT to determine the best solutions and the best timing and methods for deployment/implementation
  • Research and understand new technologies which have capabilities not in our current environments to determine fit and sue case application
  • Establish a long-range prioritized technology roadmap/strategy that supports the goals of the company, business group and IT is including new technologies, enhancements to existing technologies, system integration, automation and analytics needs for the coming years
  • Lead highly motivated IT professionals in a matrixed environment to execute on the strategy and deliver required systems and solutions
  • Provide leadership to the project teams to ensure advancement, removing roadblocks, negotiating scope changes with the business, and reporting the status of the product/portfolio specific to the business orgs you manage and the IT advancements that support this team
  • Provides a high level of engagement, collaboration and communication with staff, business partners, vendors and management
  • Provide strategic technology leadership to help drive innovation and growth, maintaining global alignment, through existing standards and emerging technology
  • Develop, lead and maintain technology roadmaps in alignment with strategic plans, and provide product management oversight and support
  • Support and champion project prioritization in alignment with corporate objectives, ensuring fiscal responsibility while focusing resources on the work that matters most
  • Provides leadership to build, direct, and retain a high performing IT team
  • Collaborate and align strategic approaches and then operationalize with other IT business partners to shape IT vision and direction
  • Ensures IT applications, systems, processes and personnel are developed, implemented and operated in compliance with global regulatory standards (ie., GxP, CFR, ICH, GDPR)

 Qualifications:

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to package and syndicate a message, garner business support, drive and document vision / strategy, plan & organize, providing progress on multiple projects
  • Business knowledge: demonstrated knowledge of key business processes and industry awareness of trends in the bio/pharma industry with a specific focus on manufacturing, supply chain, process sciences, quality assurance, quality compliance
  • Compliance knowledge: strong understanding of software development life cycle in a regulated environment (GxP, HIPAA, SOX, GDPR and data privacy, computer system validation) with responsibility to ensure systems are compliant with FDA and global regulations
  • Credibility and Presence: the ability to capture the confidence of the organization in presenting new ideas or solutions
  • Collaboration / Communication / Teamwork: establish and maintain successful interactions within the organization. Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization with a high level of confidence and resiliency
  • Leadership: ability to take independent action, working with a high-level problem or concept, developing the right next steps to propose resolution and ensuring successful outcome
  • Influence Skills: ability to factually resolve conflicts and differences of opinion in a respectful yet assertive way
  • Outcome oriented: Balance creativity and innovation against practical / cost effective approaches

 Education:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • MBA or related Masters-level degree is an asset
