Summary:

 

The Manager, Product Communications will be responsible for supporting strategic communications development and execution for marketed medicines and investigational pipeline products that contribute to Seagen external image and reputation. This position may partner with global colleagues to support the business objectives in collaboration with internal stakeholders in areas of marketing, medical affairs, clinical development and other key functional areas. Includes responsibility to ensure market readiness for the launch of potential new medicines and indications. The role reports to a Sr. Director, Product Communications.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead communications for a marketed cancer medicine, working in collaboration with brand marketing team, medical and internal and external communications partners
  • Support the development of U.S. and/or global external public relations strategies and tactics aligned to brand strategic imperatives
  • Serve as day-to-day communications counselor and function liaison for specific brand
  • Develop external and internal communications plans in support of but not limited to marketed and pipeline development programs
  • Partner with global and functional partners to ensure that positive media coverage is maximized across appropriate channels and internal communications content is effectively leveraged and is consistent
  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans to maximize the launch of new indications for marketed medicines and the dissemination of new scientific data and publications
  • Build partnerships with brand digital teams to drive relevant positioning and conversations with global consumers and across marketing- and corporate-owned channels
  • Develop a compelling brand story to tell throughout the calendar year, across internal and external channels
  • Partner with internal communications colleagues to drive employee engagement and inspiration through patient stories, disease state awareness and other topics
  • Manage agency team(s) and budgets
  • Provide innovative ideas and recommendations for improvement on a regular basis

 

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree preferably in Communications, English, Journalism or related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant corporate communications experience at a biotech/pharma company or a communications agency where the focus was in oncology
  • A career with a focus on unbranded and branded PR campaigns, media relations and issues management preferred
  • Ability to measure business impact for public relations programs is required
  • Ability to manage agency partners and oversee budget is required
  • Experience with both external, commercially driven communications (i.e., media relations, product communications, branding) is required
  • Strong management, planning and implementation skills, as well as a creative and effective approach to problem solving
  • Experience counseling senior leaders on business opportunities, communications objectives, strategy and message is required
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and driving results through influence is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage personalities
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee agency partners is required
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous situations is required
  • Outstanding written and presentation skills
  • Ability to deliver in high-pressure situations and with short deadlines
  • Biotech or pharmaceutical experience preferred
