POSITION SUMMARY:                  
This position is responsible for maintaining the optimal functioning of terminal buildings, structures and facilities. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:  
Position reports directly to the Human Resources Assistant Manager. Does not exercise direct supervision over any position.  
   
QUALIFICATION  
Required  
  • A minimum of two (2) years of hands-on maintenance experience in areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.
  • Experience and ability to use common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers.
  • Clean valid driver’s license.
  • Certificate in trade skills related to HVAC, electricity, industrial repairs, etc.
  • Ability to communicate (read, write and speak fluently) in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to accurately process alpha/numeric information
  • Must have basic computer and typing skills
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to meet and deal effectively with the vendors, contractors and the general public.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.  Must be able to prioritize and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, multitask and possess strong initiative.
  • Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.
  • Must be able to work (flexible hours) long hours including nights, overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
Preferred  
  • Experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
   
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
Primary  
  • Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify any maintenance needs, safety hazards, or potential issues with various systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, lighting, and other building components to prevent breakdowns and ensure their longevity.
  • Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and address problems with building systems and equipment promptly. This includes fixing electrical issues, repairing plumbing leaks, replacing faulty components, and resolving HVAC problems.
  • General Maintenance: Handle general maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, and basic repairs to keep the facility in good condition and aesthetically pleasing. Make recommendations and performs all building facility repairs and replacement of ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and anti-glare shields, and all other safety-related repairs and maintenance.
  • Emergency Response: Be on-call or available to respond to urgent maintenance requests, such as leaks, power outages, or other emergencies that may arise outside of regular working hours.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities meet safety standards and regulations, minimizing potential risks for occupants and employees.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventory to track the facility's maintenance history.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain various tools and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks, ensuring they are in proper working order.
  • Communication: Collaborate with other facility staff, contractors, and management to coordinate maintenance tasks, report issues, and provide updates on ongoing projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to maintenance procedures, processes, and systems to enhance the facility's efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Vendor Relations: Communicates with vendors and contractors to coordinate necessary maintenance and repairs, whom may be Spanish speaking only.
  • Create and maintain accurate reports and documentation related to assigned tasks
  • Maintain awareness of all surroundings (i.e., trucks, people, etc.) at all times.
Secondary  
  • Assist with company events after hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Drive the 52 k forklift and man lift as needed to facilitate terminal repairs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
   
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  
  • Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable
  • The employee is continuously required to stand, walk, grasp, talk and hear
  • The employee must frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 10lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75lbs.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit, exercise repetitive wrist and foot motion, and exercise finger dexterity
  • The employee is frequently required to exercise eye-hand-foot coordination and frequently eye-hand coordination.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, pinch, reach overhead, twist, squat and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
