The IT Business Analyst I will help business groups implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. Works with stakeholders on a daily basis to ensure requirements align with company initiatives and core values.  Relies on extensive experience and judgment to create the needed behaviors in themselves and others to drive desired results.  The IT Business Analyst I works on complex, highly visible projects, plus scoping several inter-related initiatives and helping senior-level business stakeholders make informed decisions.


  • Guides users in formulating requirements; advises on alternatives and on the implications of new or revised technology solutions
  • Works on complex, highly visible company initiatives
  • Develops Testing, Training, and Transition to Support Plans
  • Runs requirements elicitation workshops with all levels of stakeholders (staff to upper leadership and vendors)
  • Develops requirements specifications targeted to all levels of stakeholders (staff to upper leadership and vendors)
  • Conducts functional testing and provide input and oversight of User Acceptance Testing activities
  • Helps define best practices around business analysis
  • Transfers project knowledge to business and technical stakeholders during project life cycle
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of SCP Health process and systems
  • Responds promptly to the technical support needs of the business
  • Supports business stakeholders during conversations with technical team members
  • Presents and implements alternatives to streamline functions and improve productivity
  • Builds and maintains vendor relationships during project life cycle
  • Communicates effectively relevant IT related information to management and peers
  • Prepares and gives presentations to senior management
  • Other duties as specified by Manager of Business Analysis or Director of Information Technology or Vice President of Information Technology

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possesses knowledge and experience leveraging both IT solutions and business process improvements
  • Demonstrates leadership skills
  • Experience in both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Ability to manage ambiguity effectively
  • Deep practical business analysis experience completing the following activities: requirements elicitation, stakeholder analysis, interface analysis, process analysis, data analysis, and business rule analysis
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize multiple elicitation, documentation and analysis techniques
  • Excellent understanding of system development life cycle (SDLC) and responsibilities of business analyst and other team members
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into application specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at a C Suite level
  • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
  • Experience with SOX controls and analysis
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

EDUCATION (Required and/or Preferred):

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in MIS, Computer Science, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Degree preferred in MIS, Computer Science, or business discipline with appropriate exposure to information technology concepts, processes, and systems


  • Minimum of one year of experience practicing core principles of business analysis
