POSITION TITLE: Shipping and Material Handler
LOCATION: Athens, GA
DESCRIPTION:
Our Shipping Clerk supports Mativ’s Filtration Advanced Materials Business Segment. This individual will efficiently and safely perform shipping and receiving functions including but not limited to ensuring inventory and stored raw materials are wrapped, marked, transported, and logistically stored. The shift schedule is 8:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stocking of Plant Raw Material:
- Provide a weekly raw material inventory list.
- Check daily, the needs of the plant for the next 48 hours by reviewing the BOM’s via the schedule, and request necessary items to be transported from the warehouse.
Shipping/Receiving:
- Receive materials: determine proper quantities, order correctness, and PO of receipt.
- Electronically receive the material into LN.
- Notify proper personnel and/or distribute for incoming inspection as per established process for raw/non-raw material items
- Update LN (computer entry) & generate paperwork as required
- Preps, determine & loads shipment per established process.
Inventory Control:
- Complete inventory counts as directed.
- Notify the appropriate personnel of deficiencies within the inventory, and of items that may need reorder.
Quality:
- Check incoming and outgoing shipment integrity. Notify operations if any deficiencies exist and assist in resolution.
- Assure immediate transportation vehicles are cleaned and will not damage product.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Read and comprehend English
- Basic math skills
- Basic computer skills – must use a computer for LN, and to communicate via email
- Mechanical background
Preferred
- Forklift qualification.
Position Demands
Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:
- Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot.
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
- May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards.
Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
- Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
- Safety Glasses
- Bump Caps
- Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks
- Hearing Protection, when required
- Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.
While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands:
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
- Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
