Areas of Responsibility:

 Set up:

  • Read and understand schedule and job packet.
  • Be able to perform all functions of the set up including:
    1. Coordinate the set up of the orientor to S.O.C. conditions.
    2. Adjust tenter width profile and orientor heat settings per the S.O.C. sheet.
    3. Identify and stage correct extrusion.
    4. Properly set up the infeed section including edge guides, brakes, accumulator and drafter.
    5. Properly set up outfeed section including shafts, shaft inflation, cores, slitters, etc.
    6. Identify specific QC testing requirements and/or methods

 Start up:

  • Properly thread infeed including unwind stands, knob direction, accumulator and drafter.
  • Place net on pins and adjust tenter infeed edge guides
  • Adjust dancer or MDO tension
  • Cut the net in
  • Make necessary adjustments including draft ratio, number of strands on pins, etc.
  • Properly thread up outfeed of orientor including stripper, accumulator, slitter nip and winder section
  • Start up winders, slitters, trim system and align cores
  • Perform visual inspection including core alignment, roll edge appearance, general net appearance, strand count variation or banding, etc.

 Run Production:

  • Coordinate the orientor personnel to efficiently produce a quality product.
  • Properly operate all orientor infeed equipment and controls including identifying and staging rolls, performing roll changes, drafter operations, etc.
  • Properly operate all orientor outfeed equipment and controls including accumulator, slitter, trim system, winder, baler, etc.
  • Properly label, package and store finished product
  • Maintain all aspects of data collection and paperwork.
  • Make adjustments as necessary to correct for out of spec material.

 Quality:

  • Perform QC test per SOC in a timely manner.
  • Maintain communication with the QC tester to verify the quality of the material being produced.
  • Complete and file QC documentation including test results, control charts, folders, etc.
  • Identify out of spec material and notify the Shift Supervisor or Process control.
  • Continually monitor the net for visual quality.
  • Continually monitor run conditions including drafter ratio, heats, speed, etc.

 Safety and Housekeeping:

  • Properly utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including mandatory use of eye protection, hearing protection, and safety shoes. Gloves and sleeves may also be required for some tasks.
  • Proper use of the Conwed Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Safe use of an authorized utility knife.
  • Completes necessary housekeeping duties in work area at all times.
  • Complies with all OSHA/Company safety requirements.
  • Knowledgeable of location of MSDS, First Aid Supplies, fire extinguishers,
  • Participates actively in workplace safety.
  • Notifies supervisor of accidents, near misses, or unsafe working
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area to promote a safe work environment.
  • Safe use of an authorized utility knife.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

 Competency Requirements:

  • Mechanical Background
  • Basic computer skills - must be able to use computer for data collection, shop notes, etc.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Read and comprehend English
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Forklift qualified
