Mortgage Loan Officer
Description
South Carolina Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to join our team of outstanding Mortgage professionals in Greenville, SC.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide required information, register and renew NMLS registration as required by the SAFE Act. (Activities related to mortgage loan applications are not permitted until the registration process is complete.)
- Generate first and second mortgage loan volume through outside business contacts as well as internal member inquiries; Ensure timely communication and guidance throughout the mortgage process.
- Counsel and inform members of mortgage products that truly fit their financial needs and build long-term relationships.
- Identifies issues which may significantly impact member’s ability to close loan and prepares member with alternative action plan.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and discretion in approvals, counter offers and denials.
- Accountable for providing preliminary disclosures in accordance with regulations.
- Execute mortgage marketing plan assignments.
- Responsible for working with internal business partners as requested on external business development.
- Communicate mortgage service expectations and support of the centralized referral process with Financial Centers.
- Analyze member’s needs and cross-sell other credit union products & services.
- Responsible for participating in realtor groups and other community related activities.
- Attend seminars and community events to keep informed on trends and developments and make recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Possess a minimum of three years of mortgage lending experience within a credit union, bank or mortgage brokerage.
- Possess a minimum of two years of sales experience with a proven background of meeting and exceeding sales goals.
- Possess demonstrated ability to analyze situations and make solid decisions with exceptional judgment.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with members and employees in person and by telephone/email.
- Possess interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Possess time management and organizational skills.
- Possess demonstrated initiative taking action without being prompted.
- Possess proficiency in Windows based programs to include Microsoft Office products.
- Possess intermediate mathematical skills performing calculations involving adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
NOTE: Relevant military experience is considered for veterans and transitioning service members.
