Pay Range: $101,272.00-$126,589.50

What you’ll be working on:

Supports Savers vision by directing the management of multiple regional domiciles of truck drivers, warehouses, equipment and associated support staff as well as financial results to plan.  Works with local management to develop operating budgets and to develop and execute strategies to meet same.  Partnering with all channels of supply to ensure timely collection and distribution of residential routes, GreenDrop donations, general supply zone and any general logistics related to the acquisition of supply or movement of product. Works with regional supply/sourcing management and area store management to ensure proper and timely flow of goods to the stores across a broad multi-state area.  Recommends process improvements and supporting technologies.   Reviews and recommends specifications for equipment and facilities.  Meets with external partners to manage the overall operational performance of trucking in their area of responsibility.  Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies such as DOT, OSHA and DOL.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Responsible for the performance, productivity and safety of all trucking and logistics operations in the assigned multi-state area.
  • Responsible for the professional development and advancement of all direct reports; effectively delegating tasks and overseeing results/outcomes; works with Managers to develop ATCM’s for internal growth
  • Oversees and directs the safety and training programs; responsible for enhancing regulatory compliance (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA);
  • Responsible for start up operations within the region, including recruitment, facility site selection, equipment and training; establishes operating budget with new management
  • Communicate with direct reports on a regular basis regarding operations, financial results and performance metrics as well as personnel issues
  • Responsible for ensuring satisfaction of various customers (e.g., stores, donors, charities).
  • Reviews key performance indicators tracking operational performance; manages change to drive improvements in same
  • Reports to Director, GreenDrop Operations on the above and any other assigned duties
  • Maintains current knowledge of transportation industry through membership in professional organizations, research and review of industry specific periodicals.  Recommends adaptation of new trends, technology or processes as applicable.
  • Designs programs to improve operational excellence, safety or financial results.  Recommends and implements change as a result.
  • Executes established operational processes and procedures to achieve outstanding results.
  • Works with internal and external partners as needed to perform functions of role.
  • Participates on and leads department or companywide projects in support of the company goals and objectives.
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

What you have:

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in transportation, distribution or logistics (minimum 10 years experience preferred)
  • Solid understanding of DOT regulations
  • Working knowledge of trucking equipment
  • Solid demonstrated understanding of Transportation management Systems and their implementation
  • Understanding of the application of activity based pay methodologies in transportation
  • Past P&L responsibility ($5M minimum)
  • Working knowledge of facility management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel
  • Understanding of Key Performance Indicators within trucking and distribution operations
  • Understanding of financial metrics and the budgeting process
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to manage managers and develop them
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to lead a diverse work group in a physical

 

Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years experience supervising management level associates
  • 10 years experience in transportation, distribution and/or logistics management

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Continuous need to hear and verbally communicate in order to interact with and respond to management, team members and customers.  Will need to hear requests in person and via telephone.
  • Must be willing to travel within the US and CAN.  Will require weeklong/multi-day travel as needed, up to 50%
