About the Role  
Send Payments is seeking an Accountant to play a vital role as we enter the next growth phase of the business. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will have ownership and responsibility for the “back office” finance activities in the company. This role presents a unique opportunity that balances start-up and scale-up, where you can make a significant impact from day one in shaping foundations and driving growth.
 
The impact you will have/core responsibilities: 
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Ownership of the month-end closing process, including end of month journal posting and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation and reconciliation of daily banking transactions and corporate credit card expenses
  • Manage the end-to-end process of accounts payable ensuring accuracy and timeliness in recording transactions
  • Prepare and execute weekly payment runs, ensuring all payments are accurate and in accordance with company policies and supplier terms
  • Maintain the prepayment, accruals and fixed asset register
  • Assist in preparing and filing GST, BAS, and other statutory returns in compliance with Australian tax laws, ensuring that the company is compliant with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements
  • Assist in preparing the monthly management accounts, including the accurate departmental coding of payroll, customer, and vendor invoices to the finance system
  • Collaborate with external auditors and ensure all audit requirements are met on time.
  • Liaise with different departments to resolve accounts related queries
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required
 
About You 

The talents you will bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or a related field
  • Intending to commence or working towards completing your CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the payments/IT/financial services industries
  • Good understanding and knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
  • Experience using Xero is highly desirable but not essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Meticulous attention to detail
