Represents or supports the representation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Associate Director, Compliance supports Santander Consumer USA's oversight of its network of auto dealerships. This position will conduct ongoing monitoring and provide advisory support to the first line of defense.

The role will begin in a remote environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages Dealer Management Compliance Program
  • Monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
  • Provides report on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Board and Senior Management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Ensures corporate policies are accurate, current, and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Reviews and updates polices as laws change.
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Manages control process validation to ensure compliance with laws, rules and regulations.
  • Partners with business unit managers to respond to reports issued by regulatory agencies or audit.
  • Consults with the Corporate attorney as need to resolve difficult legal compliance issues.

Requirements:

  • Education -
    • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance, or equivalent field.
    • Master's Degree or Juris Doctorate
  • Experience -
    • 8+ years Compliance, Legal, Audit, Regulatory, or combined Financial Services experience.
    • Preferred: Auto Finance experience, Dealer Management experience
  • Skills & Abilities -
    • Demonstrated experience implementing and executing a Compliance Management System
    • Experience in senior compliance and the ability to influence
    • Advanced knowledge of Financial Services rules and regulations
    • Advanced understanding of Enterprise Compliance Risk Management and best practices.
    • Advanced risk and compliance process, control validation and/or assessment skills.
    • Superior leadership, supervisory, and customer service skills.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with multiple levels of the organizational structure, including senior level management.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
    • Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities.
