Maintenance Mechanic

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure manufacturing equipment is operating efficiently to ensure maximum production capability
  • Provide maintenance support for the production department and to perform scheduled preventative maintenance and work order, rebuilds, and related repairs on manufacturing equipment and other equipment in the facility
  • Maintain a daily record of time and parts involved with assignments
  • Assist other maintenance personnel with repairs, projects, and work orders whenever necessary

Area of Responsibility is Plant-Wide

  •  You will provide maintenance support for the production department
  •  You will perform packaging line changeovers
  • You will perform scheduled preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and other equipment in the facility
  • You will troubleshoot all manufacturing equipment related issues
  • You will assist in the installation and startup of new machinery and new equipment
  • You will substitute for others area mechanics vacations absences, etc.
  • You will maintain a daily record of time and parts involved with assignments
  • You must work with others, (mechanics, electricians and production workers), to help resolve issues in a timely manner
  • You will assist other maintenance personnel with projects and work orders whenever necessary

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years' experience in either electrical or mechanical maintenance experience, industrial mechanic

  • 2+ years’ experience troubleshooting in the electrical  finding faults, shorts, program controllers, mechanical, or fluid power fields, machines (pumps, motors, bearings, hydraulics)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge on how to program PC units for printers, date coding equipment, etc.
  • 2+ years in electrical or mechanical maintenance experience in the food processing industry
  • Experience in mechanical fabrication
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics, welding techniques and be capable of utilizing all shop equipment
  • Ability to read and use manuals, blueprints, engineer designs, and complex schematics
  • Ability to work under limited time constraints and production pressure.
  • Ability to work as a team with internal staff and vendors

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to acknowledge workplace safety warnings such as forklift horns, alarms to prevent injury. This position is very active and requires standing, walking/moving, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and/or climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
