Manufacturing Engineer (MEG)
Description
- Serve as the primary liaison between Samtec and CM partner for all engineering or technical issues.
- Provide on-site, first-level engineering support to CM operations, troubleshooting process, equipment, tooling and product issues in real time.
- Support new product introductions and transfers for HDR products, including documentation review, capability assessments and process/equipment qualifications.
- Support capacity reviews of Samtec equipment located at CM to ensure readiness to support future product/program ramps.
- Ensure adherence to Samtec control plans and standards, coordinating approval and implementation of process changes between Samtec and contract manufacturer.
- Review and analyze process and yield data, identify trends or drifts, and initiate corrective actions in collaboration with the CM when needed.
- Develop and standardize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and process windows to improve quality, yield, and reliability.
- Lead and support process improvement activities using data analysis, DOE, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Support equipment installation, upgrades, preventive maintenance, and asset management in collaboration with contract manufacturer and Samtec teams.
- Summarize recurring production issues and collaborate with CM on improvement opportunities, communicating effectively in weekly and quarterly reviews.
- Ensure continuity between sustaining engineering projects and high‑volume production.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with CM engineering, operations, quality and maintenance teams to ensure timely resolution of manufacturing issues and effective implementation of Samtec requirements.
- Ensure CM is adequately supporting on-site visits from Samtec personnel.
Required Experience:
- Experience in manufacturing and process engineering within a high‑volume production environment.
- Working knowledge of process development, equipment qualification, and product transfers.
- Experience with tooling and equipment design, preferably using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with experience applying data analysis, DOE, and root cause methodologies.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, suppliers, and contract manufacturing partners.
- Effective communication skills and ability to provide technical guidance on the factory floor.
- Ability to work independently at a CM site and effectively coordinate activities between the CM and Samtec engineering teams.
- Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required to support Samtec manufacturing activities and product/equipment transfers.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
