Job title:  REGIONAL AUTOMATION ENGINEERING MANAGER

Summary/Objective:   Responsible for the long-range direction of Samtec Asia Pacific Automation and Tooling engineering strategy.  The Regional Automation Engineering Manager will work with the Director of Automation Development to direct the strategic design, management, and implementation of high-volume automation equipment and traditional tooling/equipment within the connector and high-speed cable industries. This person will develop and maintain external automation suppliers to meet the rapidly growing automation needs to align with company goals. 
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities: 
  • Execute the company’s automation technical vision and lead all aspects of the company’s automation and tooling development in Asia Pacific.
  • Identifies, develops and builds external automation suppliers throughout Asia.
  • Leads internal automation/tooling engineering teams throughout Asia to design and build equipment needed to support traditional high-mix/flexible manufacturing footprint.
  • Works with external automation/tooling engineering teams throughout organization to scope and procure equipment needed to grow high-volume manufacturing footprint.
  • Provide leadership to automation/tooling engineering department in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission and values.
  • Understands the connector/cable industries assembly technologies and makes determinations on the probability of implementation.
  • Develops test plans for and executes on-site FAT activities related to automation equipment.
  • Ability to communicate in verbal and written English.
  • Acts as a good steward of Samtec resources.

Required Experience:
  • 10+ Years’ Experience in Automation/Machine design and development. 
  • 7+ Years’ Experience in managing & leading Engineering departments. 
  1. Ability to actively communicate, inspire and motivate all levels of staff.
  2. Ability to think and act strategically and proactively.
  3. Strong writing and presentation skills. 
  4. Will be able to demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
 
 
Education:  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or other technical discipline. 
 
Training Required:
 
  • On the job training as appropriate.
