Signal Integrity (SI) Test Engineer
Description
Job Title: Signal Integrity (SI) Test Engineer (Eng III)
Code:
Title (External Similarity): Eng III (Senior Eng)
Summary/Objective
Lead and elevate production-ready signal integrity (SI) validation for high-speed interconnect products. Own repeatable measurement methods, defensible acceptance criteria, and automation that improves confidence and throughput.
This role is a key building block for expanding high-speed volume test capability at this site. You will set the technical bar for measurement quality, correlation, and reporting, while mentoring engineers and partnering with equipment vendors and internal stakeholders. Your work will shape release decisions, yield improvement, and long-term test strategy through clear data, traceability, and practical execution.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
• Lead hands-on SI validation, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis in the lab and in support of production readiness
• Own and standardize test methodologies, reporting templates, and measurement quality metrics to improve repeatability across labs and stations
• Define, approve, and refine major test plans, acceptance criteria, and guardbands using correlation studies, DOE, and data-driven rationale
• Drive measurement–simulation correlation improvements and institutionalize best practices for de-embedding, calibration, fixturing, and setup discipline
• Develop and guide test automation strategy, including version control and change control expectations for scripts and analysis modules
• Maintain traceability of equipment, setups, configurations, and data using approved systems to support auditability and decision integrity
• Mentor engineers and technicians on measurement fundamentals, problem solving, and practical execution of SI test methods
• Lead technical engagement with equipment vendors and external partners to evaluate capability, close gaps, and implement improvements
• Author clear technical documentation and validation summaries for internal stakeholders and, when appropriate, external technical audiences
*The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.*
Preferred experience
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Signal Integrity, including experience in a high-speed electrical test environment and transitioning methods into stable, repeatable workflows
• Expert experience with SI instrumentation (for example VNA, TDR) and test automation, with a track record of standardizing methods across teams
• Expert experience applying DOE and statistical analysis to improve test confidence, correlation, and throughput; experience with MSA or SPC is a plus
• Strong setup discipline (calibration, de-embedding, fixture and cable control) and comfort owning measurement quality metrics
• Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor others and influence cross-functional technical decisions
Education
BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related; MS preferred
Training Required
1. On the job training as appropriate.
