Position Description: LPM Engineer
Job Summary
The Low-Pressure Molding (LPM) Engineer is responsible for providing technical support on new and existing HDR molding projects across Asia production facilities
Responsibilities
- Review, diagnose and redesign as needed any existing production molds
- Review Asia designs and mentor mold designers as needed to promote global mold designs and standards
- Review Asia molding procedures and processes with the intent to guide and mentor HDR OPS to drive consistency and standards globally
- As needed, make design modifications to existing molds (such as line extensions) for Samtec LPM
- As needed, design new molds for Samtec LPM
- Help author, critique and train on LPM tooling design and methods standards as needed
- Work directly with purchasing, quality, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, process engineering, and other necessary groups as a cross functional team to develop products/solutions
- Adhere to all corporate engineering standards including but not limited to documentation and file management
- Autonomously plans and schedules own daily tasks, develops solutions to problems utilizing education, experience, and judgment
Requirement Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 5-years related experience designing injection molds
- Working knowledge of steel machining techniques
- Working knowledge of scientific injection molding principles
Desired Skills and Experience
- Design experience with tight tolerance molds, including but not limited to LPM, reel to reel, insert molding
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Must be a self-starter with strong leadership
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability
- Excellent interpersonal skills in relating to both internal and external customers
- Proficient is MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Willing to travel throughout Asia for up to 4 weeks per year
- Willing to travel globally between Samtec facilities, initially for training and long term for supporting Operations
