JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: CONTROLS DESIGN ENGINEER

Code:  57-40-00-120-704

Summary/Objective: Serve the Plating Department by programming, building, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  1. Support Malaysia Plating Operations with a high level of integrity with the electrical controls needs.
  2. Troubleshooting, Communication Skill, Problem solving, Teamwork and collaboration and computer knowledge.
  3. Lead all electrical/controls projects in the Plating Facility.
  4. Maintain electrical schematics.
  5. Work with/ lead contractors for large projects.
  6. Design, Develop and Programming of HMI’s and PLC’s.
  7. The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.
  8. Additional requirements for this position may be needed based on the facility in which this is located.
  9. Review projects including quotes, job specifications and resolve any quote to job specifications differences.
  10. Adheres to all Samtec Quality Principles and actions

Required Experience

  1. 3 - 5 Years’ Experience installing and/or troubleshooting Industrial Controls and electrical systems.
  2. PLC Programming troubleshooting experience is required.
  3. HMI programming experience required.
  4. VFD installation and programming experience is required.
  5. Servo motor programming experience is required.
  6. Must be willing to work in a chemical environment.
  7. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions: Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations.  May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear).  May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).
  8. Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes.

Education:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. 4-Year Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent training is required.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technician (BSEET) is desired.

 

Training required:

  1. On the job training as appropriate.
