Test Operator (Night Shift)

Samtec is looking for a Test Operator to work in our Wilsonville, OR facility. The schedule for this position is Wed-Fri nights 5pm-5am. Must be available to train on days for approximately 2 months. Samtec pays a competitive wage and offers the following benefits: medical (HSA/PPO) dental, vision, group life, AD&D, short and long-term disability, EAP, 401K plus other voluntary options, as well as paid time off. Starting wage is $22/hr or more DOE, with 75 cent per hour shift differential for nights.
The Test Operator will ensure that Samtec Cable products meet electrical, dimensional, and cosmetic specifications, following the highest quality standards and process to ensure conformance to standards. The individual would have a pleasant and professional working demeanor, exhibit a responsive manner toward authority and direction, and be able to work in a clean work environment being a team player.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Perform inspections on products based on test criteria from drawings, work instructions and Test procedures.
- Prepare and test discrete coax/ twinax and triax samples.
- Prepare and test ribbon samples.
- Perform UL inspections and certifications.
- Maintains records of test results. Send out test data to appropriate personnel.
- Perform static and dynamic testing using VNA (Vector Network Analyzer)
- Prepare and test engineering samples.
- Perform Gage R&R.
- Perform weekly preventive maintenance on test fixtures.
- Monitor test equipment calibration due dates and alert necessary personnel when calibration is due.
- Operates Respoolers, Braiders, Ribbonizers and Servers as needed.
- File, recycle production packets.

Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles, manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Must be able to read and understand job specifications, schematics, shop orders, read prints, operating instructions, perform basic math calculations, basic statistics interpretation, identify basic functional problems, take corrective action, and interface with supervisors and engineers to solve problems.
- Must know how to operate hand held measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, rulers, and be about to use razor blades, soldering iron, wire cutters, etc.
- Good computer entry skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic electronic courses.
- Technical degree it is a plus
Training required
On the job training as appropriate.
