Process Engineer (100% onsite)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Location: Zeta Free Zone, Montecillos de Alajuela
Job Summary:
The Process Engineer evaluates existing processes and configures manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, improve Quality, and develop best practices within the production process. The main focus of the Process Engineer’s work is on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
Functions:
- Lead and execute experiments to identify key process variables using DOE type methodologies or other analytical methods.
- Develop standard manufacturing best practices, parameters, process windows, and work instructions that improve the Samtec assembly process.
- Use Six Sigma DMAIC process to determine root cause/solutions to process challenges.
- Use statistical methods to conduct process capability studies to determine if process is meeting key process requirements.
- Development process criteria to determine if raw cable design/process changes are ready for full volume production.
- Provide general guidance, direction, and support to other engineering and operations teams that improves the assembly process.
- Collect and interpret data from other technical and operating staff involved.
- Perform engineering calculations applying the principles of physics and mathematics for process or equipment, including conceptual, scheme, and detail design.
- Provide technical inputs for incident investigation considering an integral perspective (manpower, method, machines, materials, and measurement), documenting problem, root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Develop/research new manufacturing methods that help advance the assembly process long -term.
- Become a technical expert for processes and equipment in order to be key contributor during design reviews and prototype/development phases of new products.
- Responsible for programming, creating and documenting a process with procedures for automated and non-automated equipment sets.
- Responsible for material tracking and data compilation of assembly processes for alpha and beta product builds.
- Guides, manages, and provides feedback on tooling required for new products and processes.
- Participates and drives FMEA and PFMEAs where applicable.

Requirements:
- B.S. or B.A. in Industrial, Process, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineer.
- 7+ year experience as Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in English at a professional level and technical engineering knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, creative mindset (Six sigma).
- Strong computer skills, reporters, data mining.
- Project management experience.
- Great team work (member/leader) & communication skills.
