Environmental Safety Technician (OSH Coordinator/Safety Coordinator)

Summary/Objective:
Provide support in the management of occupational risk prevention systems and supervision of
compliance with tasks and processes related to Occupational Health. Operational support in the creation
and development of activities that support management and administrative support with documentation
related to Occupational Health issues related to entities such as INS, Ministry of Health and private
entities of interest.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Make your own safety and that of the people around you, your number one priority, conducting
operations safely and reliably always, in any situation and in any place.
2. Asks for quotes and makes purchase requests of personal protective equipment, labeling and any
other equipment necessary for Occupational Health management.
3. Gives safety and environmental related training to regular employees, new hires and contractors.
Collaborates in the identification of training needs, updates and creation of training material.
4. Monitors all Safety and Environmental Communication elements within the plant such as boards,
signs, labels and others; keeps them up to date and coordinates replacement when needed.
5. Collaborates in the planning and execution of special activities related to the department, like
Occupational Health Week, Annual Health Plan and others, including coordination with suppliers,production and any other stakeholder. 6. Conducts Safety Walks / Audits: Safety walks and on-site audits to assess safety, identify hazards and
unsafe conditions.
7. Support the deployment of safe work procedures.
8. Follow-up of documentation related to INS cases: provide additional information, elaborate letters,
videos, pictures and register of cases in the database.
9. Keeps the accident database updated and follows up for corrective actions to be closed.
The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates
may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.
Required Experience:
1. Minimum 1 years of experience in similar positions or 1 year at Samtec.
2. Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory
deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs
3. CPR/First Aid/AED training
Education:
1. Technical degree in Safety and Environment or related field
