JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Engineering Support Group – Test Lab Engineer
Summary/Objective: The ESG Lab Engineer’s primary role will be to provide technical support, test set up approval and on-going failure analysis in support of the day-to-day operations of the test lab. The position will require a strong ability and desire to develop expertise with regards to mechanical and electrical testing specification as they related to electrical connector solutions, reliability analysis and automated lab procedures. The ESG Lab Engineer will be required to dictate testing methodology to lab technicians, interact with internal customers and analyze test data.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Identify potential problems with testing based upon test results/data.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions for all relative equipment and processes.
  • Conduct failure analysis using root cause and problem-solving techniques.
  • Collaborate with engineering and review and approve test plans.
  • Provide support to technicians to maintain properly working and maintained equipment.
  • Research, coordinate, and implement testing solutions for “nonstandard” customer testing.
  • Create and/or review formal electronic test reports.
  • Assist with test fixture design and procurement.
  • Program electronic data acquisitions systems.
  • Ensure compliance to industry testing standards.
  • Analyze test data statistically.
  • Review Printed Circuit Board designs to ensure test requirements are met.

Required Experience:
  • Previous experience in a product development engineering or product development engineering technician position required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to attend onsite training, off-site training, and college courses as appropriate to further knowledge of testing theory and failure analysis.
  • Software: Labview, Solidworks, AutoCAD
  • Knowledge: General test equipment, General PCB design, General tooling manufacturing methods, EIA testing standards
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Must be able to sit for more than 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
  • Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations. May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear).  May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).
Education:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Training Required:
  • On the job training as appropriate.
