Co-Op – Manufacturing Engineering student (Wilsonville, OR)
Samtec is seeking a local Portland Oregon area student of Manufacturing engineering to work within our cable production team in Wilsonville, OR, for 18-24 months prior to graduation.
Hourly rate $22/hr beginning by July 2024, and available full time for summer. Friendly work environment and tuition support! Must be on site M-F 8am-5pm for 20 hrs per week minimum during school terms for Junior/Senior years. Samtec provides up to $10k per year in tuition assistance for Co-Ops.
Initial assignment will be in Quality. Responsibilities will include the Inspection and Testing of Production and Engineering Tooling, Raw Materials, and Samtec products both in-process and Finished Goods.  Additional rotations to other engineering functions may include Production Support, Product Engineering, Process Engineering or Controls Engineering.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities (Quality):
  • Incoming Inspection of Tooling and/or Raw Materials.
  • Testing to validate in-process or final specifications of WIP or Finished Goods or Customer Returns.
  • Perform Calibration / Maintenance of measuring equipment.
  • Creating and maintaining test and calibration procedures.
  • Gage R & R by Gage Types.
  • Provide reports on Incoming, In-Process, and Finished Goods Testing.
  • Help manage internal QP’s by entering, investigating, or managing Corrective Actions generated from the Quality System.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field. Preferably 18-24 months prior to graduation.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours on site (8am-5pm). Full time during summer is desired. 
  • Samtec is an ITAR facility and all applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. on an unrestricted basis.

Preferred Education
2 years of University/College credits; sophomore to junior year status as an engineering major.
