The Advanced Logic Lab (ALL), located in Austin, TX, is a research lab of Samsung Semiconductor Inc. (SSI), responsible for roadmapping and application space for more Moore and Beyond Moore technologies. Areas of research include fundamental physics of devices and interconnects, new materials, integration, DTCO, and technology/system interaction. ALL has close collaboration with worldwide internal (corporate) and external organizations.



 This position involves creating PEX RC models for MOL and BEOL for future nodes beyond 5nm, using Raphael and StarRC as extraction tools. Use of process emulators and other 3D solvers to bridge material properties to effective line/via R and metal C is needed. Exposure to integration schemes for MOL and BEOL is an added advantage. Also preferred is the ability to map to existing LVS or modify LVS to recognize novel devices.

BEOL RC model creation, for use by Raphael and/or StarRC.

Use Process Emulator (SPX/Coventor based flow) to generate structural RC values based on material properties.  

Work as part of broader team to optimize best structure/material combination to deliver best-in-class PPA.

Modify LVS as needed for novel devices.

Interact with EDA developers as needed to improve tools for novel devices/interconnects.

REQUIRED SKILLS  (Education Certificates, Licenses, Travel)


PhD in one of: Elec Engr, Mech Engr, Chem Engr, Materials Science & Engr. 5-10 years experience in the semiconductor process / technology field.




Experience in BEOL RC model creation, for use by Raphael and/or StarRC. Knowledge in defining interconnect material properties in Interconnect Technology Format (ITF), either from silicon data or modeling.

2. Exposure to integration schemes for MOL and BEOL.

3. Exposure to process emulation flows.

4. Knowledge of Calibre SVRF or other LVS code.

5. Good communications skills and ability to work collaboratively with research organizations and EDA vendors.
