System Integration Intern

Summer 2020 internship applications are open November 2019 through January 2020.  Samsung Strategy and Innovation (SSIC) summer internships start in May/June 2020.

Join us for a unique 12-14 week paid internship that offers personal and professional development. You’ll work with the teams that create new computing system architectures needed to support emerging machine learning applications, internet of things (IoT) and edge computing that benefit millions of users.  This program will give you the opportunity work on complex solutions to that address some of the world’s most complex technological challenges.

OVERVIEW & IMPACT 

As a member of a research team, you bring the world of Deep Learning and High-Performance Computing together to create a state-of-art Deep Learning training and on-device deployment platform. The dataset at large scale for autonomous driving applications poses a challenge to train the new algorithms efficiently and to make them ready for deployment as fast as possible. Driven by large dataset and large DL models, you solve the challenge of building a highly scalable, distributed and optimized computing platform. We work on entire stack of perception module of autonomous driving software technology. You will have an opportunity to publish your research in conferences or journals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Get familiar with Deep Learning frameworks and technology stacks for model training and inferencing.
  • Collaborate with DL architects to help them train on a HPC cluster efficiently and quickly by employing scalable data parallel and model parallel techniques on very large datasets.
  • Continuously optimize the HPC cluster, Deep Learning frameworks for our unique model training requirements.
  • Build and optimize a pipeline for model-serving and deploying DL models on our autonomous driving platform.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS  (Education Certificates, Licenses, Travel) 

  • Graduate student in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Strong interest in high performance computation and distributed systems
  • Ability to do rapid prototyping and quick experimentations
  • Very good working knowledge of Linux environments
  • Strong team player and collaborative skills to work with multi-disciplinary team
  • The candidate should be able to commit for at least 6 months

 

 PREFERED SKILLS 

  • Scripting skills in Python, Shell, or other common scripting language
  • Parallel programming using MPI, CUDA or other programming environments
  • Understanding of Tensorflow, Pytroch frameworks
  • Basic understanding of Deep Learning architectures
  • Experience in cluster management and resource scheduling using management software tool(s)
  • Programming language: C++, Python
