Modem Systems Engineer Intern (5G/LTE)

Summer 2020 internship applications are open November 2019 through January 2020.  Samsung Semiconductor summer internships start in May/June 2020.

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is looking for a talented and highly motivated individual with in-depth knowledge on communication theory, signal processing and channel coding theory to join our team as an intern. We are part of a team that designs cellular algorithms for Samsung Exynos chipsets. In this team, you will work on cutting edge technologies that can significantly enhance the ability of Samsung products and platforms.


  • Designing demodulation and channel decoder/encoder algorithms with potential application to cellular modem
  • Conducting advanced research on future cellular technologies toward cellular communications standardization such as 3GPP NR
  • Conducting simulations (both floating-point and fixed-point) in C/C++/MATLAB, and optimizing algorithms for mobile devices


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong background in communication theory, signal processing and channel coding theory
  • C/C++/MATLAB coding skills


  • Strong background in Polar codes, LDPC codes
  • Strong understanding on 3GPP standardization
  • Strong background on developing a system level simulator
