POSITION PURPOSE

 

The Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging reports to the CHRO and will provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership on all belonging, equity, diversity and inclusion policies, programs, and practices for the organization. In this highly collaborative role, the DEI&B Manager will play a critical central role in developing, driving, and communicating a holistic DEI&B strategy at SAFE.  The DEI&B Manager will be responsible for the development of cultural diversity and inclusion across SAFE. They will also partner with the YOUnity Council to design and implement our DEI&B experience roadmap creating positive change and experiences that make an impact on engagement, inclusivity and belonging. This role will be a trusted partner to executives, senior leaders, employee resource groups (ERGs), and the communications team for strategy, program launches, and implementing initiatives to ensure the optimal attraction, development and retention of diverse talent while infusing DEI&B principles and practices into our community outreach and philanthropy.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Plans, guides, and advises the CHRO and Senior Executive Team on diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and affirmative action matters. Collaborates with leadership to create, implement, and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees.
  • Leads SAFE in implementing strategic initiatives, including (but not limited to) developing strategies for Talent Acquisition, retention, training, leadership development, compensation equity, and the implementation of DEI&B into SAFE’s culture.
  • Develops, manages, and fosters a DEI&B roadmap with a focus on achieving measurable and sustainable results. Establishes and maintains a D&I dashboard and metrics to allow for effective measurement of the programs. Assesses and monitors program effectiveness and keeps management informed of equal opportunity progress and issues through periodic reports.
  • Develops and implements companywide training to promote cultural understanding, competency, and a climate of diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, such as the YOUnity Council, ERGs, and the communications team, to ensure the successful implementation of DEI&B initiatives.
  • Establish and lead a DEI&B council and employee resource groups to garner feedback and support an inclusive environment.
  • Partners with the business leaders and HR leadership to design and implement change initiatives that foster a culture of inclusion and drive employee engagement.
  • Ensure that the DEI&B strategies are aligned with SAFE’s business plan and leveraged to promote the business and generate innovation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Corporate Communications team to enhance both internal and external branding for diversity and inclusion.
  • Promotes SAFE’s commitment to an environment of equity, diversity, and inclusion through interaction with the Board of Directors, Executive Staff, leadership, employees, and the community.
  • Provides analysis of legislation and regulations related to equity, affirmative action, and makes recommendations to leadership on SAFEs policies and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent years experience.

 

Required Knowledge and experience:

  • Four to Six years demonstrated experience in leading DEI&B initiatives.
  • Two more years leadership/management or supervisory experience 
  • Deep knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging best practices and principles
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and executing complex projects and initiatives.
  • Preferred experience in developing and delivering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging training programs for various levels of an organization, including executive leadership, managers, and individual contributors.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with and influencing diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership, human resources, employee resource groups, and cross-functional teams, to drive initiatives and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Be a self-directed, strategic problem solver with analytical skills and have experience building relationships with leaders.
  • Be a DEI&B believer and advocate and lead the organization around all DEI&B initiatives and efforts.
  • Workable knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and evaluation
