POSITION PURPOSE
The Home Loan Manager leads and directs Home Loan Consultants by executing the strategies and tactics for home lending to SAFE members throughout SAFE’s retail channels (branches, contact center, and safecu.org). The Home Loan Manager provides guidance and training to ensure Home Loan Consultants are developing and sustaining positive relationships with SAFE branch employees and members, promoting home loan products, and achieving service and sales goals. The Home Loan Manager is also expected to monitor trends and developments in the real estate markets, the GSEs, and changes to private and government insured mortgage products and provide education to HLC’s and Branch Leadership accordingly; research, analyze, and recommend products that meet the needs of our membership ensuring that SAFE is the preferred choice for our members home loan needs; maintain collaborative partnerships with applicable retail leadership and staff to create synergy among frontline employees and the Home Loan Consultants; meet or exceed expected quality control and turn-time targets for applications, file submissions and home loan consultant interactions to ensure that the team is operating within SAFE policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations; identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, by analyzing data and making data-driven recommendations, and actively participating in the formulation and implementation of process and workflow solutions to service delivery challenges. The Home Loan Manager is accountable to lead, track and report HLC activities and achieve assigned home loan service and sales goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Lead and motivate Home Loan Consultants, providing coaching, constructive feedback, training, tools, and systems to ensure they meet or exceed sales & service goals.
- Work closely with Retail leadership in the branches and contact center to ensure that SAFE members are receiving the appropriate information, education, and service to meet their home loan needs.
- Monitor loan application quality, data integrity, and member and staff interactions to ensure all are in alignment with SAFE’s policies and procedures, and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Effectively manage the pipeline of mortgage and home equity leads and applications from the retail branches, contact center and safecu.org to ensure that members are being served to their expectations and each application is being handled timely and effectively.
- Cover any Home Loan sales personnel absences or goal achievement shortages by personally providing branch training, motivation, and support; consulting with members on their home loan needs; taking member applications and managing member loan requests, as needed, to ensure excellent service to branches and members.
- Recommend process improvements supported by data analysis with defined expected outcomes; then assist in defining, researching, and implementing solutions accordingly.
- Lead the relationship between SAFE and any service providers used in the origination of home loans for our members; most notably, SAFE’s subscribed realtor program that offers member discounts.
- Research, develop, recommend, and participate with the implementation of products that meet the changing home loan needs of our members.
- As it relates to home lending to members through the SAFE retail network, develop and implement strategic plans to achieve corporate goals and lead the implementation of tactics aligned with the department and organization’s strategy. Regularly track and report on the results to leadership.
- Participate in sales forecasting and communicating and managing to performance goals.
- Recruit, hire, and train new home loan consultants, as needed.
- Complete annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Stay abreast of product, financing, technology, and marketing trends within real estate sales and lending industries.
- Represent the Credit Union in the retail community footprint through involvement in various civic and charitable activities.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification:
- NMLS License
Required Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of home lending regulations, policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Extensive understanding of home loan products and quality control.
- Working knowledge of home loan systems such as LOS, GSE automated tools, and CRM.
Experience Required:
- Three years or more leading home loan originators, preferably in a FI retail branch environment.
- Two years or more originating residential home loans.
