IT Senior Technical Business Systems Analyst (BSA) and Scrum Master - Hybrid Role

Job Description

 

100% / 1 FTE | PST time zone | Remote - USA, Canada, or Costa Rica based

This position supports Roche's Digital Technology Medical Affairs department. The Senior / Principal BSA will work closely with business partners and IT to understand and help shape strategic drivers and tactical needs, ensuring the successful delivery of intuitive, scalable, and stable solutions. This role requires strong agile skills, particularly the ability to function as both a Business Systems Analyst and a Scrum Master.


Responsibilities

        Support the successful implementation of technical solutions by providing business process analysis and design, strategic vision, best-practice research, detailed requirements definition, user-centric functional design, vendor evaluations, systems assessments, and user acceptance testing facilitation.

        Act as a trusted partner and single point of contact for stakeholders. Conduct one-on-one or group interviews, and plan and facilitate workshops and end-user working sessions to gather requirements.

        Support business partners in developing Organizational Change Management (OCM) deliverables.

        Drive roadmap discussions and vendor assessments.

        Keep management informed through clear, proactive, and timely communication.

        Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, developers, and designers on scope, solutions, constraints, and risks.

        Analyze, document, and advise on current and future business process models.

        Define, analyze, and document high-level requirements and use Agile methodology to document Epics and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria.

        Demonstrate a systems-thinking approach, seeing the big picture while determining the best solution.


Requirements

        Seven-plus years of business systems analysis and support experience with various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies in an enterprise IT environment.

        Proven Agile mindset and Scrum methodology experience working in both a Scrum Master and BSA capacity. Product Owner experience is a plus.

        Strong experience documenting Epics, User Stories, and spikes using a scrum tool like JIRA is a must. Knowledge of Confluence is a plus.

        Deeply familiar with human-centered design methodologies.

        Ability to independently handle complex problems and work in a cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders.

        Ability to rapidly understand business requirements and communicate business expectations to cross-functional technology development teams.

        Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills.

        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

        Fluent English language skills, including listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

        Demonstrated ability to quickly learn the business in unfamiliar areas.

        Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor others.

        Collaborative and solution-oriented mindset.

        Available to work Pacific Standard Time business hours.

        Search Engine Expertise: Good understanding of search engine's configuration, including defining and optimizing boosting rules, synonyms, stop words, and query rewriting to improve search result relevance.

        SQL Proficiency: Expert ability to write SQL queries for data validation, profiling, and deep analysis of search logs and content repositories.

        API Specification & Contract Documentation: Skill in defining, documenting, and managing technical specifications (e.g., using OpenAPI/Swagger) for API endpoints.

        Data Mapping & Transformation: Expertise in defining the technical field mapping and transformation rules from source system attributes to the search index attributes, ensuring data integrity.

        API Testing & Validation : Hands-on experience using tools like Postman to test API functionality, validate input parameters, and ensure the correct JSON response payload is returned.

        Web Analytics Platform Configuration: Good understanding of Web Analytics (ex -Adobe Analytics) implementation, specifically around capturing and reporting on search-driven KPIs (Zero Results, SCTR, Search-to-Conversion).

        Tag Management System (TMS) Expertise: Experience in providing Website Tag recommendations to track all necessary search user interactions.

        Data Visualization & BI Tools: Competency in using tools like Tableau or Qlik to create insightful dashboards and reports that visualize search performance and data quality metrics.

        Cloud Data Platform: Experience accessing and operating key AWS cloud services used for search data pipelines, including S3 (data storage), Lambda (serverless processing), GLUE (ETL jobs), and defining DAGs (workflow orchestration)


Preferred Qualifications

        Five-plus years of experience in Biotechnology or Pharmaceuticals.

        Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively across multiple customers and IT functions.

        Large-project implementation experience in a matrixed IT organization.
