Senior Power BI Developer (SaaS Finance)
 
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power BI Developer to join our finance and analytics team. This role is critical in helping us manage, visualize, and derive insights from our vast financial and operational data, with a specialized focus on the metrics and models that drive a high-growth Software as a Service (SaaS) business.
 
You will be responsible for building robust and scalable Power BI solutions that transform raw financial data into actionable intelligence for our executive leadership, finance, and operations teams. A deep understanding of SaaS financial metrics and business models is essential for success in this position.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Manage Financial Dashboards: Design, develop, and maintain complex financial dashboards and reports that provide a single source of truth for key SaaS metrics.
  • Model SaaS KPIs: Create and manage Power BI data models to calculate and visualize critical financial KPIs, including:
    • Recurring Revenue: Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR), Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), and Net Revenue Retention (NRR).
    • Customer Metrics: Customer Churn, Revenue Churn, Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), and Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC).
    • Profitability: Burn Rate, Gross Margin, and the "SaaS Magic Number."
  • Big Data Optimization: Design and implement efficient data models that can handle large volumes of financial transaction data, ensuring reports and dashboards load and refresh quickly.
  • Advanced DAX & Power Query: Write complex Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to create sophisticated financial calculations and use Power Query to transform and clean data from billing systems, ERPs, and other financial sources.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with the Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to understand their reporting needs, translate business requirements, and deliver solutions that inform strategic decisions.
  • Data Governance & Security: Implement row-level security (RLS) to ensure sensitive financial data is only accessible to authorized users. Maintain data integrity and accuracy across all financial reports.
  • Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of Power BI reports and data models to ensure a seamless user experience for finance and executive stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Power BI Developer or in a Business Intelligence role, with a strong portfolio of financial reporting projects.
  • Deep, proven experience working with and building reports for SaaS business models and their associated financial metrics (MRR, ARR, Churn, LTV, CAC, NRR, etc.).
  • Expert-level proficiency in Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming financial data.
  • Experience with financial systems and data sources such as Stripe, Zuora, NetSuite, or other billing and ERP platforms is a significant plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
Work Environment 
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, phones, and photocopiers.
 
Physical Demands 
This position requires the frequent and repetitive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Hand and finger dexterity is required.
