IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN

Where You Fit In 

As an Irrigation Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial irrigation systems, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency. This role involves troubleshooting system issues, performing component replacements, recommending upgrades, and maintaining accurate service records while promoting safety and professionalism on every job site.

Responsibilities: 

• Perform timely repairs or replacements of system components, including pipes, sprinkler heads, valves, controllers, and timers, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices
• Conduct routine inspections and troubleshoot irrigation systems to identify issues, implement effective solutions, and ensure optimal system performance and operational standards are consistently met
• Build strong relationships with team members to support their professional growth; establish individual development goals and tack progress through timely feedback and evaluations
• Provide clients with informed recommendations for system upgrades and enhancements aligned with their landscape goals, sustainability objectives, and budget considerations 
• Monitor and manage labor hours effectively, ensuring assigned tasks are completed within established timeframes and budgets
• Oversee irrigation inventory by ensuring all tools, parts, and materials are adequately stocked, properly labeled, and organized
• Demonstrate a commitment to safety and operational excellence by following all safety procedures and maintaining vehicles and equipment to company standards
• Engage in ongoing professional development through active participation in internal training programs and continuing education opportunities 
• Accurately complete and submit daily work documentation, including property service reports, repair estimates, and timecards in a timely and organized manner 

Qualifications:

• Safety first mindset with a commitment to adhering to safety regulations and promoting safe work practices
• Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in irrigation system maintenance and installation within commercial or residential settings, or equivalent experience in related trades such as plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical systems 
• Possession of relevant irrigation certifications is preferred (e.g., Certified Irrigation Technician or similar industry credentials)
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and no major violations within the past three years, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT medical card through a DOT physical examination, is required
• Fundamental understanding of construction plans, schematics, and system diagrams
• Working knowledge of irrigation controllers, timers, sensors, and other automated irrigation components is preferred
• Proven ability to effectively lead, manage and develop team members
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Physical capability to perform labor-intensive tasks, including standing, squatting, reaching, and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds as part of routine job duties as needed
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with a customer-focused and solution-oriented mindset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with clients, team members, and supervisors 
• Proficiency in using smartphones and basic familiarity with computer systems for scheduling, reporting, and documentation purposes
