Service Plumber
Description
Job Overview:
Diagnose and repair/replace plumbing problems to all applicable codes. Uphold all of R.T. Moore quality standards. Perform all on-call duties in a designated rotation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair or replace plumbing per code in an efficient manner.
- Arrive at the office by 7 am every morning unless otherwise approved by the Plumbing Field Superintendent.
- Report to the dispatcher after every completed job to optimize the schedule.

- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked truck to perform daily service calls and achieve one call resolutions.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to the Plumbing Field Superintendent.
- Leadership: No supervisory skills necessary.
- Direction: Receive guidance with respect to general objectives; in the majority of tasks and projects assigned determine methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve the objectives of assignments; operate within specific policy guidelines.
- Safety: Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to Field Superintendent and/or Department Manager.
- Teamwork: Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license.
Experience:
- 4 years experience preferred; will accept less.
Necessary Skills:
- Work Ethic: Demonstrated solid work ethic.
- Attendance: Consistent attendance and arriving at required start times.
- Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers and co-workers.
- Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. In addition must pass math section at Mechanical Skills.
- Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out various plumbing fixture installations with detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Operations: Ability to operate and read a volt meter and tablet.
- Planning and Organization: Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and be organized.

Physical/Environmental Demands:
- Working conditions: Will be exposed to changing weather conditions, for instance; rain, wind, cold, and heat.
- Work Environment: Must be comfortable working in the following environments: outdoor weather conditions, very loud, wet or humid conditions, working near mechanical parts, working in high precarious places, working in awkward and/or confining work spaces, possible inhalation of fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibrations, in the presence of a customer. *Please note these are possible occurrences, not necessarily everyday events.*
- Work Schedule: Standard start time 7:00 A.M. End time varies depending on completion of project. Standard work week; Monday through Friday. Some mandatory Saturday and/or Sunday work days during scheduled on-call rotation. Periodic over time and occasional meetings may occur outside of project completion.
- Travel: No overnight travel required.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to do the following activities at least 2/3 of work day: stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.
- Must be able to climb or balance for at least 1/3 of your work day.
- Capable of lifting at least 100 pounds.
- Can continuously lift 10 pounds or more for over 2/3 of work day.
- Constant lifting or carrying of items.
- Capable of moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
