What you can expect as a Business Development Executive:

RPX is seeking an experienced individual to contribute to the success of the Business Development Team. The Business Development Executive will be responsible for growing the RPX business, with primary focus on new membership, by identifying and leading sales efforts to a targeted group of prospects. They will engage with prospect companies to generate interest in RPX membership, develop the opportunity, and close the sale. RPX offers a competitive sales incentive compensation package focused on results delivered. This role reports to the Executive Vice President, Business Development.   

In this role, you will:   

  • Analyze market data, develop a sales strategy, build an opportunity funnel and robust pipeline, and prioritize/target potential clients to achieve defined sales goals and objectives
  • Proactively initiate and sustain trusted relationships with senior executives and key decision-makers at target companies and successfully position RPX as the premier solution provider
  • Partner with RPX colleagues to cultivate strategies, structure and close deals, and deliver results
  • Support the development of new offerings and perform market testing

Do you have the experience to join our team?   

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university
  • Intellectual Property experience required
  • 7+ years’ experience working with technology services or products
  • 5+ years’ experience carrying an equivalent revenue quota, including:
    • Presenting complex solution offerings
    • Building, managing, and prioritizing prospect pipeline
    • Delivering against a defined sales goal
    • Experience engaging and selling professional/legal services to legal departments

Travel & Location:   

  • Southern California based preferred and able to work in a hybrid capacity from the Orange County office
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and occasional international travel

In compliance with CA Pay Transparency, the RPX target budgeted base salary for this position is $150,000 to $185,000 depending on skills and experience and the RPX base salary range is $110,000 to $250,000. In addition to base salary, we offer sales commission along with comprehensive benefits and perks, including group health coverage, company HSA contribution, 401(k) matching, medical disability and family leave benefits, fitness reimbursement, community service days, charitable donation matching, and more, as well as the option to work remotely or from our beautiful Orange County office.
