Position Summary: 

Responsible for providing friendly, responsive service, creating unforgettable moments, providing an exceptional experience at sushi bar. The Sushi Chef primary objective is to maintain our policies, high level of quality control and steps of service at sushi bar, actively participate in creating new and innovative ways to create a memorable and exceptional experience for our guests. Working as a team both BOH and FOH department, is a key at all time 

Type: Hourly, Full Time

Pay Scale: $20.00-$25.00 + tips

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Produce all items as specified from sushi bar 
  • Perform all opening and closing duties daily 
  • Ensure proper rotation of produce FIFO 
  • Ensure all served food meets Company and health quality standards 
  • Assists other sushi chef as needed 
  • Organize, prepare, deliver and display product for functions  
  • Maintain responsibility for quality of food and presentation 
  • Maintain and manage pars of sushi bar products 
  • Properly wrap, label, date, and store all sushi food items on their proper stations 
  • Set up, operate, and clean all kitchen machinery/equipment and store it in its proper place 
  • Practice proper knife handling skills  
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures 
  • Monitor and abide by efforts to eliminate food waste 
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions  
  • Assist managers with recommendations to upsell at the sushi bar 
  • Remain in compliance with mandatory management trainings, including sexual harassment training and workplace safety training 
  • Follow all company procedures 
  • Other job duties as assigned 

Qualifications:  

  • At least 3+ years of experience in a similar position. 
  • High school diploma (preferred)

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: 

  • San Diego County Food Handlers Card (must be obtained within 30 days of employment). Serve safe certificate preferred. 
  • Anti-harassment and nondiscrimination 1-hour class.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to speak and hear 
  • Vision, including distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception 
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop  
  • Frequently lift up to 35 pounds. 
  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours at a time 
  • Must be able to sit for up to 6 hours at a time 
  • Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment 
  • Must be able to work holidays, nights, and weekend
