Program Overview

RIVA Solutions is supporting the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) under the ISCOM Division to deliver mission-critical IT modernization and cybersecurity services. This effort focuses on enhancing the security, reliability, and efficiency of NTIA’s infrastructure, driving forward their mission of advancing broadband access, data-driven policymaking, and secure communications through modern digital tools and compliance with federal standards.


Position Overview

RIVA Solutions is seeking a Systems Administrator (Linux) to provide operational support and maintenance of enterprise IT systems under the NTIA ISCOM contract. This individual will be responsible for managing and maintaining both Linux and Windows systems, with an emphasis on Linux-based environments (approximately 70%).

The Systems Administrator will install, configure, and monitor systems and applications to ensure stability, availability, and security across a diverse IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical troubleshooting skills, cross-platform experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with cybersecurity, engineering, and network teams to support mission-critical operations.


Core Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and associated services, ensuring system reliability and performance.
  • Administer and support Windows Server environments, including patching, updates, Active Directory integration, and general system health.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying system integrity, resource utilization, and availability of key processes and services.
  • Conduct system patching, upgrades, and backups, maintaining compliance with established baselines and federal standards.
  • Implement and enforce security configurations and hardening procedures across both Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to operating systems, storage, networking, and applications.
  • Manage user and group accounts, permissions, and authentication services.
  • Support virtualization platforms and assist with deployment of new systems and applications.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and configuration records.
  • Collaborate with other administrators, cybersecurity, and network teams to resolve incidents and improve system performance.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, incident response, and after-hours support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration.
  • U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong Linux system administration skills, including patching, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration and system management.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to automate administrative tasks.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, and network layers.
  • Ability to create and maintain system documentation and technical procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as RHCSA / RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Experience supporting hybrid IT environments, including integration between Linux, Windows, and cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of federal IT environments and compliance frameworks (NIST, FISMA).
  • Exposure to storage and backup management, monitoring tools, and log analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Salary

Up to $145,000 depending on experience.
