TITLE: Supply Technician Support     
LOCATION: 615 South 43rd Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009 
CLEARANCE: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Security Clearance. 
 
This is a full-time position requiring on-site work, with standard hours from Monday to Thursday (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM) and Friday (6:00 AM - 4:00 PM).

Background: 
Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) is one of the four power marketing
administrations within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) whose role is to market and
transmit wholesale electricity from multi-use water projects. WAPA’s service area
encompasses a 15-state region of the central and western U.S. operated by the Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the International Boundary and Water Commission.
 
Description
The Supply Technician will support the property and asset management functions for the Department of Energy's Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) in Phoenix, AZ. This role will involve managing stockroom operations, maintaining inventory, processing property transactions, and assisting in the organization and distribution of supplies and equipment. The candidate will ensure compliance with safety and operational standards while using various property management systems such as Maximo and FIMS.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Stockroom & Inventory Management:
    • Perform daily stockroom duties, including receiving, verifying, storing, and issuing materials (stock and non-stock).
    • Maintain an organized storage area, ensuring proper stacking, palletizing, and inventorying of materials.
    • Use inventory management systems (Maximo, FIMS, Data Splice, Prometheus Mobile) to track inventory movement, usage, issuance, and returns.
    • Generate reorder reports, process stock replenishment requests, and ensure accurate and timely placement of orders to maintain stock levels.
  2. Equipment Handling:
    • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, telehandler forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual handling tools to move and store inventory safely.
    • Ensure safe storage and handling of all materials, in compliance with OSHA and environmental safety standards.
  3. Documentation & Reporting:
    • Create and maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including purchase requests, bills of lading, certificates of destruction, and vendor delivery updates.
    • Assist in annual inventory audits, documenting asset numbers, serial numbers, values, and conditions for all stockroom and satellite locations.
    • Provide routine reports on inventory status and reorder points, including analysis of trends and discrepancies.
  4. Property and Facility Oversight:
    • Assist with the security and maintenance of stockroom facilities, conducting periodic inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
    • Provide on-site support for property management, escorting vendors and overseeing repairs or new construction projects.
    • Collaborate with fleet management and assist with the preparation of shipments, ensuring proper packaging, crating, and transportation of materials.
  5. Shipping & Receiving:
    • Receive shipments, verifying material quantities and conditions, documenting discrepancies, and preparing items for shipment when necessary.
    • Manage the shipping process, including weighing, palletizing, shrink-wrapping, labeling, and preparing shipping documents according to Department of Transportation guidelines.
  6. Administrative Support:
    • Provide clerical support for stockroom staff, managing files, and documentation for purchasing, receiving, and disposal of items.
    • Set up conference rooms, manage meeting schedules, and ensure proper use and maintenance of assigned vehicles and golf carts.
  7. On-call Duties:
    • Provide on-call support for urgent stockroom needs, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements:
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in stockroom or warehouse management.
    • Familiarity with inventory management systems such as Maximo or FIMS is preferred.
    • Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, inventory management software, and data entry for maintaining records and reports.
    • Ability to perform basic maintenance and operation of tools and equipment.
  • Physical & Safety Requirements:
    • Capable of performing manual labor, lifting heavy materials, and working with various stockroom and yard equipment.
    • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and safe material handling practices.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check and meet security clearance requirements.
    • Ability to work provided hours: M-Th 6 AM – 4:30 PM | Fri. 6 AM – 4 PM
This position is critical in maintaining operational efficiency within WAPA’s Phoenix facility, ensuring the accurate handling, storage, and distribution of materials. The role demands attention to detail, a proactive approach to inventory management, and collaboration with government and vendor personnel.
 
SCA Rate: $17.72/hr + $4.57 H&W and will have a likely increase by the end of the year/start of the new year to $31.80 + $4.57 H&W
