Position Overview

RIVA Solutions is seeking a Mid-Level Appian Applications Developer to support the design, development, and implementation of enterprise workflow applications that streamline and modernize federal administrative and acquisition processes.

The ideal candidate will work as part of an agile delivery team to develop scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions on the Appian Low-Code platform, while also contributing to modernization, system integration, and DevSecOps initiatives. This role is ideal for a technically driven developer with a strong understanding of Appian’s data and process modeling capabilities, integration frameworks, and enterprise architecture alignment.


Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance Appian-based applications supporting administrative, operational, and mission workflows.
  • Design and implement complex data and process models, Appian Records, CDTs, and SAIL interfaces (Appian 25.2 or higher).
  • Build and configure Custom Data Types (CDTs) and relational data structures in MySQL and Oracle databases.
  • Engineer RESTful and SOAP integrations to automate business processes and support external system communication.
  • Apply DevSecOps principles to deploy secure, compliant, and maintainable Appian solutions.
  • Perform process and data modeling to support enterprise planning, analysis, and modernization activities.
  • Contribute to re-engineering and migration strategies for modernization of legacy systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, sprint artifacts, and user job aids.
  • Conduct demos, sprint reviews, and stakeholder working sessions, incorporating user feedback iteratively.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior developers within the Appian team.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups using Jira.
  • Collaborate closely with business analysts, security engineers, and stakeholders to ensure mission needs are met efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. 
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on development experience with the Appian BPM platform (Appian 21+; Appian 25.2 preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with MySQL or Oracle databases.
  • Proven experience developing RESTful and SOAP integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of Appian Records, CDTs, Data Models, and Process Models.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering solutions in an Agile environment.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure application deployment practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Appian Certified Associate Developer (or higher) certification.
  • Experience working within federal IT environments or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and strategic information systems planning.
  • Experience supporting migration or modernization efforts from legacy systems.
  • Knowledge of reverse engineering and re-engineering practices.

Salary

Up to $105,000, depending on experience.
