Program Overview
RIVA Solutions is pursuing a highly visible federal digital transformation initiative focused on the modernization, governance, and continuous improvement of an enterprise Drupal-based web platform. This mission-critical platform supports large-scale public engagement, content operations, and integrated digital services within a complex federal environment.
The program emphasizes scalable CMS architecture, accessibility compliance (Section 508), secure DevSecOps practices, performance optimization, and sustainable digital governance. The Lead Drupal Developer will play a key technical leadership role in ensuring the platform remains secure, compliant, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
Position Overview
RIVA Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Lead Drupal Developer to provide technical leadership for an enterprise Drupal digital platform supporting a federal program.
This individual will lead Drupal architecture, complex content migrations, system integrations, and CI/CD implementation efforts. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing and executing enterprise Drupal migrations (including on-prem to cloud transitions), building custom Migrate API plugins, and integrating Drupal with third-party systems.
This role requires hands-on technical depth combined with architectural vision, DevSecOps collaboration, and the ability to mentor development teams while maintaining enterprise-level security, performance, and scalability standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise Drupal CMS architecture.
- Design and execute on-premises to cloud Drupal content migrations.
- Design and create custom Migrate plugins using the Drupal Migrate API and non-Drupal data sources.
- Work directly with clients to identify source data, define transformation logic, and map data to Drupal destination structures.
- Develop and maintain custom Drupal modules and reusable components.
- Design and maintain Drupal integrations with third-party applications via APIs.
- Maintain system integrations between Drupal and external systems using RESTful APIs and web services.
- Conduct peer code reviews and establish development best practices across the team.
- Oversee Drupal core and module security updates, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment workflows.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Acquia Cloud Actions.
- Optimize performance, caching strategies, and scalability for high-traffic enterprise environments.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.
- Participate in backlog refinement and technical planning sessions with Product Management.
- Maintain technical documentation for architecture, integrations, migrations, and deployment processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum 6+ years of professional experience developing websites in Drupal, including enterprise implementations.
- Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining enterprise Drupal CMS architecture.
- Proven experience executing complex Drupal migrations, including on-premises to cloud transitions.
- Hands-on experience building custom Migrate API plugins.
- Experience integrating Drupal with third-party systems via RESTful APIs.
- Experience leading peer code reviews and mentoring development teams.
- Strong understanding of Drupal security best practices and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience working within CI/CD environments.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale federal web modernization initiatives.
- Experience with Drupal 9/10 and legacy version migrations.
- Experience with Acquia Cloud hosting environments.
- Experience implementing GitHub Actions and Acquia Cloud Actions.
- Familiarity with containerized or cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience ensuring Section 508 accessibility compliance.
- Acquia or Drupal certifications.
Salary Range
Up to $150,000 per year based on experience
