Program Overview
RIVA Solutions is supporting the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) under the ISCOM Division to deliver mission-critical IT modernization and cybersecurity services. This effort focuses on enhancing the security, reliability, and efficiency of NTIA’s infrastructure, driving forward their mission of advancing broadband access, data-driven policymaking, and secure communications through modern digital tools and compliance with federal standards.
Position Overview
RIVA Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to provide operational and technical support for enterprise network infrastructure under the NTIA ISCOM contract in Boulder, CO.
This individual will work alongside senior network engineers and architects to maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot network systems supporting NTIA’s mission-critical operations. The Junior Network Engineer will gain hands-on experience in both wired and wireless network environments, helping ensure optimal network performance, reliability, and security.
This position is ideal for a motivated technical professional early in their networking career who wants to grow into a senior engineering or architecture role within a large-scale federal infrastructure program.
Core Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day network operations and maintenance, assisting with configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Help implement and maintain LAN/WAN connectivity, routing, and switching infrastructure across enterprise environments.
- Perform network monitoring and diagnostics, responding to alerts, outages, and performance issues.
- Assist in the setup, installation, and replacement of network hardware such as routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply corrective measures.
- Maintain network documentation including topology diagrams, configuration notes, and change logs.
- Support network patching and firmware updates in coordination with cybersecurity and system administration teams.
- Participate in troubleshooting efforts involving connectivity, DNS, DHCP, or latency issues across user endpoints and servers.
- Follow established change control and configuration management processes.
- Provide hands-on assistance during new system or equipment deployments and maintenance windows.
- Stay current with emerging network technologies, standards, and security practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in network operations or support.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
- Experience with network devices from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Aruba.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, or similar).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under supervision to resolve technical issues.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document work clearly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA certifications such as Network+ or Security+.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
- Hands-on experience with network security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
- Familiarity with federal or enterprise IT environments, especially those requiring compliance with NIST or FISMA standards.
- Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts (Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments).
- Desire to grow and learn from senior engineers in a collaborative team setting.
Salary: Up to $115,000 depending on experience
