Description
We are seeking a senior Prismic CMS Architect to join our team. In this role, you’ll serve as the technical authority on Prismic CMS architecture, establishing patterns, standards, and best practices that a team of CMS developers will follow. You will make foundational decisions around content modeling, front-end architecture, infrastructure, and performance, while mentoring and guiding the development team.
The role is centered around a defined technology stack including Next.js, Chakra UI, Prismic CMS, and AWS with CloudFront CDN. The ideal candidate brings deep architectural expertise across headless CMS platforms and modern front-end frameworks, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Candidates should be highly collaborative, opinionated about quality, and motivated to elevate the work of those around them.
What You’ll Be Doing and The Impact You’ll Make
As a Prismic CMS Architect you will own the technical direction and architecture for enterprise web projects built on Prismic and Next.js. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Define and own the overall CMS architecture — content modeling strategy, slice architecture, custom type design, and content relationships within Prismic
- Establish front-end architecture patterns for Next.js (App Router, React Server Components, SSR/ISR strategies, data-fetching patterns, and caching)
- Design scalable, reusable Slice Machine component libraries that enable marketing teams to self-serve while maintaining design and code consistency
- Make infrastructure and deployment architecture decisions across AWS (S3, CloudFront, Lambda@Edge/CloudFront Functions) and CI/CD pipelines
- Define performance budgets and optimization strategies for Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), image delivery, and CDN configuration
- Set coding standards, review patterns, and technical documentation practices for the development team
- Mentor and guide a team of 2 offshore CMS developers, conducting code reviews and providing architectural direction
- Lead technical discovery, estimation, and solution design for new features and platform enhancements
- Own the SEO technical strategy — structured data (JSON-LD), meta architecture, Open Graph, canonical URL patterns, and sitemap generation
- Architect analytics and tracking integrations (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, ad platform tracking) with a focus on maintainability and data quality
- Ramp up quickly on existing codebases and lead onboarding and knowledge-transfer efforts for the broader team
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact with client stakeholders, translating business needs into technical plans
- Collaborate with Rightpoint designers, project managers, and leadership to align technical execution with project goals
What We’d Love to See
- 7+ years of professional front-end or full-stack web development experience, with 2+ years in a technical lead or architect role
- Expert-level experience with Prismic CMS (Slice Machine architecture, content modeling at scale, @prismicio/client SDK, multi-locale and preview/release workflows)
- Deep proficiency with React.js and Next.js (App Router, SSR, SSG, ISR, React Server Components, middleware, caching strategies)
- Experience designing and maintaining component libraries with Chakra UI (or similar systems such as Mantine or Material UI)
- Expert proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
- Strong working knowledge of AWS services (S3, CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, CloudFront Functions, Route 53) and cloud hosting architecture
- Experience defining and enforcing SEO technical architecture, structured data schemas, and web analytics strategies
- Experience leading or mentoring a small development team in an agency or consulting environment
- Strong experience with Git workflows, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipeline design (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
- Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting technical approaches to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work 45 hours per week as part of a dedicated client engagement
Some Cool Extra’s:
- Prior agency experience in a technical architect or lead role on enterprise web engagements
- Experience standing up Prismic implementations from scratch or leading CMS migrations
- Background in B2B SaaS or enterprise product marketing websites
- Experience with Nuxt or SvelteKit (other frameworks supported by Prismic)
- Knowledge of A/B testing architecture and conversion rate optimization strategies
- Experience architecting third-party API integrations (POS systems, advertising platforms, partner ecosystems)
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK)
- Experience with automated testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E) and quality gates
- Experience working in agile teams and contributing to sprint planning and estimation
- Prismic or AWS certifications
