Work Assignment Supervisor (Commuter Rail)

JOB SUMMARY
Supervises operators reporting to work and in the train room. Monitors and observes operators for fitness for duty. Determines daily staffing and vehicle requirements, including scheduled service, vacation relief, and extra board requirements. Monitors the daily extra board work and builds the next day’s schedule to ensure optimum workforce utilization. Monitors the volunteer overtime, days off and the daily pull out to ensure the operators have the tools and information needed to perform their work. Addresses day-to-day issues following best practices, including responding to last-minute changes in time off requests, call offs, missouts, scheduling errors or unforeseen circumstances to ensure all work is covered and goes out on-time. Responsible for minimizing or eliminating missed trips or service interruptions. Collaborates with operations staff to update status on work assignments, vehicle assignments, detours, yard and tail track movements, and system issues. Works closely on union matters to resolve issues and to promote a positive work environment for all employees. Must demonstrate a commitment to safety that guides all aspects of work through consistent and professional behaviors in the performance of essential duties. Monitors policies and CBA agreements that pertain to any type of time off request from the employees. Develops partnerships with employees, union leadership and other departments to create positive change and help establish an enjoyable and productive work environment. Ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies. Analyzes complex data; produces and distributes detailed reports to operations administrative and bargaining unit employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree or two years college education.
(Equivalency: may substitute two years of business-related work experience for one year of required college education. For example, if the applicant has no college education, s/he may substitute four years of business-related work experience for the two years of college education.)
EXPERIENCE:
Four years of leadership experience. (Leadership experience may include supervision, operating instructor, union, community service, or other relevant experience.) Good previous job performance. (In evaluating previous job performance, the following will be considered: missouts, non-FMLA protected unscheduled absences, and formal disciplinary actions. We check the last two years.) Two years of work experience in the Transit industry preferred. Two years of customer service experience.
Must have a valid Utah driver's license and no more than 4 moving violations in the past three 3 years; cannot have a violation of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs within the last 5 years.
NOTE: Testing is Mandatory and must be completed to be moved forward. However, Test scores will not be used in hiring decisions.

Pay Rate: $71,800.00 per year
